Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Cole Engineering Center Tower, Warren MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
The Role: As a Sr. Buyer - Wire Harness you will be responsible for purchasing productive and non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling, and services. You will actively participate in developing commodity strategies, sourcing and negotiations, executing global/regional material budgets, and collaborating with suppliers and internal partners. This role involves a significant amount of initiative, analytical work, and judgment.

What You'll Do:
- Maintain sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget, and on-time metrics.
- Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures.
- Conduct sourcing and contracting activities, including:
- Sourcing event bid strategy and management.
- Bid analytics.
- Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR, and technical documentation.
- Leadership sourcing recommendation and alignment.
- Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to GM Audit Services.
- Cooperation with legal to negotiate special contract terms.
- Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items.
- Support commercial budget activities.
- Support logistics supplier management initiatives, including "Strategic Supplier Engagement."
- Nurture relationships with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution.
- Perform rate management activities, including spot buys, rate analysis, and supplier requests.
- Participate in supplier KPI reviews.

Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years' experience in commodity purchasing, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, product development, or program/product management
- Experience with Automotive Wiring commodities at a Major Tier- 1 supplier or OEM
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and solve complex problems.
- Effective interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
- Understanding of contracts.
- Global business experience
- Willingness to travel 5-10% Domestically + Internationally
Preferred Qualifications and Competitive Edge:
- Experience in wire harness purchasing at a Tier-1 supplier or OEM.
- 10+ years of OEM purchasing experience, including strategy development and supplier management.
- Experience in developing contracts/agreements.
- Cost analysis or manufacturing background.
- Knowledge of materials management.
- Ability to interpret market data and engineering documents.
- Solid understanding of contract law in purchasing.
