Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Cole Engineering Center Tower, Warren MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
As a leader in the GM semiconductor purchasing team, you will be part of developing a strong semiconductor supply chain to support our fast-growing electronics & software needs.
Specifically, you will lead a team of purchasing professionals leading the development of commodity strategies, sourcing/negotiations, budget, and execution. You will develop & coach buyers, manage relationships, collaborate with suppliers and internal key stakeholders including engineering, legal, finance, operations and drive cross-functional alignment. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a world class, fit-for-purpose semiconductor purchasing team
- Develop & execute commercial strategies based on business, market, and technology trends and establish a strong and competitive supply base
- Supervise, monitor and coach employees in different locations and build effective global team
- Works closely with cross functional partners internally and externally to trade off imperatives and identify creative solutions, during RFQ management, change management, program changes, launch and production, and supplier relationship management
- Influences others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches and leads team thru ambiguity
- Negotiate price, terms, and other items to complete full contract package
- Analyze and apply appropriate tools, i.e. cost models, benchmarking, global competitive sourcing, value chain analysis, supplier negotiations, engineering change cost containment, technical cost reduction, part/system reuse, etc.
- Promote GM's values and makes customer-focused decisions.

Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of post graduate experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Product Development, or Program/product management
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate, and elicit work output
- Strong analytical skills
- Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise, and problem-solve
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders within time constraints, as well as building relationships internally & externally
- Experience working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Experience managing and negotiating commercial issues with suppliers as well as contract drafting, redlining, and working cross functionally with legal
- Highly proficient oral and written communication skills and adept at engaging and presenting to Senior Executives
- Demonstrates ability to develop and apply deep cost knowledge
- Knowledge of procurement and materials software, as well as MS software applications
- 5% travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Semiconductor Experience is a plus
- Proven leadership capability; Able to attract, retain, develop, and coach talent
