Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Cole Engineering Center Tower, Warren MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
The Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of buyers engaged in sourcing automation capital equipment for GM's manufacturing facilities and the Autonomous Robotic Center (ARC). The responsibilities will also include developing and implementing sourcing plans while working to obtain budget and other key deliverables. As a leader, you will be expected to promote safety, inclusiveness, and innovation within the team while driving alignment to the overall Automation Strategy. This role may have direct sourcing responsibility for high impact commodities.

Job Description/Responsibility
- Provide supervision and leadership to the team on key commodity strategies, and ARC technology development
- Responsible for HR related activities (performance management, employee development, mentoring, coaching, recognition, etc.)
- Support a team culture of inclusiveness, innovation, and collaboration
- Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipelines, benchmarking data, team strategy presentations, global budget and key metrics
- Keep abreast of industry trends and commodity technology roadmaps
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and ensure achievement of supplier commitments (Quality, Cost, Performance, Timing, Sustainability)
- Support buyers with resolution of operational issues which require leadership engagement
- Lead and promote collaboration across the team and with key stakeholders
- Lead and/or co-lead with engineering on Strategic Supplier Business Reviews
- Lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams
- This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of post graduate experience in purchasing, supply chain, or logistics
- Project Management Skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to understand basic Engineering documents
- Thought Leadership
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, while prioritizing requests
- Appropriate interpersonal style and communication methods to work effectively with internal business partners to meet mutual goals
- Knowledge of computer software (MS Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint)
- Must be willing to travel 5-10% of the time Domestically + Internationally
- Experience with SAP or willing to learn other purchasing systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain management or related
- Experience with Power BI
