The Process Engineer will need to be able to work autonomously, with occasional guidance from supervision. This role will be responsible for assisting in developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary to produce parts. Work in this role is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering environment where creativity and initiative are exercised as well as independent judgment. This position will be on 2nd shift (2pm to 10:30pm Monday - Friday) and will require over-time as needed.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- SORs and project management for tools, stations or specific technologies
- Work as a part of a larger effort or project
- Manufacturing process definition
- Tooling design review
- Part quality improvement
- Production throughput improvement
- Efficient material flow
- Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts
- Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
- Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology
- Develop/maintain process control plans and PFMEAs
- Work with hourly union employees
- Attend production meetings for Safety, Quality throughput and scrap reduction
- Responsible for a specific manufacturing, responsiveness and/or quality issues
- Support the production team with data and analysis toward resolving other issues including those outside of engineering scope
- Provide technical direction / information to skilled trades personnel
- Support manufacturing activities including troubleshooting / diagnosing processes to eliminate scrap or downtime
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 4 years of Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- MUST have the ability to work 2nd shift
- Ability to work over-time
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and complex projects with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 4+ years of Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Machining floor experience
- Knowledge of PFMEA Control Plan
- Problem solving experience (lean six sigma, RedX, etc.)
- Technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines; especially CNC and cutting operations
