The Role:
As a Maintenance Leader in the Manufacturing Group, you will manages one or more areas of the plant. You will also be responsible for a large group of salaried maintenance group leaders and technical support personnel engaged in evaluating projects, planning and timing, operations, maintenance and repair of plant equipment. You will specify project requirements, planning and timing. You will hold responsibility over a department or group of departments where the work involves a considerable amount of creativity and perception and a high level of discernment in making decisions. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Responsible for training others.
What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):
LEVEL EXPECTATIONS:
A leader of a team with members who possess diverse skill sets and have similar overall objectives. Typically leads other individual contributors and at times leads other people leaders.
- Responsible for overall coordination and communication of plant Maintenance Department activities.
- Responsible for providing direction, coordination and follow-up necessary to the administration of planning programs associated with a change in the product, facility or manpower requirements within a manufacturing facility. Work involves a considerable amount of perception and initiative in order to make decisions.
- Leads the department Business Plan Deployment activity and ensures that it is in line to support the plant BPD.
- Supports daily operations to achieve required SPQRC results: identifies and implements opportunities for improvement to support BPD.
- Facilitates / participates in ongoing departmental Gap Closure Planning activities.
- Communicates between shifts and departments to implement best practices, resolve problems, and sustain consistent performance to objectives.
- Promotes use of GM-GMS Strategies. Functions as department GMS principle basketweave representative leading implementation of element improvements and initiatives across all shifts.
- Coaches Group Leaders and Team Leaders on Business Plan Deployment, throughput improvement process, and problem solving.
- Ensures compliance with ISO 90002, ISO 14001, etc.
- Acts as the center of communication to/from department. Communicates changes within departments and coordinates changes within the organization.
- Represents department in various other activities or committees.
- Develops and coordinates department budget requirements.
- Flexible to rotate all shifts for leadership, proactive addressing risks, responding to issues.
- Lead the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities
- Sets strategy and implements solutions to problems and sets schedule and quality requirements
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Implements divisional and corporate policies, safety and good housekeeping practices
- Frequent collaboration with others outside of the work group
- Communicates with plant and staffs
- Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment
- Leads in the selection of new employees. Trains, develops and evaluates employees
- Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project and proven ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with the highest level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
- Validated ability in project management skills and ability to teach others and shown desire and ability to manage/coach performance of direct reports
- Responsible for creating budgets and forecasts within assigned area
- Obtains a deep knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles.

- Drives strategy and implementation of large projects impacting multiple departments.

- Builds a team with the optimal mix of talent and experience. Makes internal and external staffing decisions, supports, and guides individual development of direct reports and their teams, drives performance.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities: ( Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Warehousing/Supply Chain environment or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience with Work Place Safety System or equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Ability to read blueprints
- Basic math and mechanical skills
- Ability to travel domestically (within United States) 5% of the time or more based on business needs.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
- 7+ Years of experience in Manufacturing environment in Automotive Industry
- Knowledge of GMS
- Experience in predictive analytics i.e. DLA, CHARM, etc.
