Job Description Summary
The Lease CoE team is responsible for accounting for GM North America's information technology, real estate, and manufacturing equipment leases. We provide technical support to the rest of the Controller's Group, Treasury, Real Estate, Manufacturing Finance/Operations, IT, and other business units as needed. This includes interpreting accounting guidance to address complex leasing issues, lease classification testing, recording monthly accounting entries, preparing global disclosures, and assisting with input into forecasts and key regulatory reports

Job Description
- Interpret ASC 842 leasing guidance for various lease transactions, including potential embedded lease arrangements.
- Perform/oversee General Ledger functions; assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Perform lease classification testing and document appropriate accounting treatment of lease transactions, including technical accounting whitepapers.
- Identify and address lease-related accounting issues, providing insights to management and finance business partners.
- Prepare monthly lease accounting entries and reconciliations for lease activity in different currencies.
- Prepare operating and finance lease disclosures for the 10-Q/10-K filings.
- Identify and execute appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures.
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting - including analyzing consolidated results, drafting and performing first level review of SEC documents and management review reports, ensuring quality, and administering strict timeline.
- Streamline and modernize business processes for lease accounting.
- Provide direction, coaching and development to less senior team members with similar functional responsibility

Additional Description
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, information systems, or equivalent experience
- 2 years of technical accounting or related experience
- Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to plan and prioritize multiple assignments.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications
- Experience with SAP,GCARS, or Account Reconciliation Manager.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly proficient personal computer skills and technology driven.
- Excellent team building and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work and lead with minimal supervision.
- Willing to take on special projects as required
Preferred qualifications:
- ASC 842 Leasing guidance Experience
- CPA - Certified Public Accountant
- Experience with Power BI or other automation/modernization tools
- Experience with CoStar system
