Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford three times per week, at minimum.

The Role:

Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) Battery Systems Controls (BSC) department is responsible for end-to-end High Voltage Battery Systems Controls and Software products for all GM EV and (P)HEV; our product scope covers requirement setting, controls, diagnostics, software, calibration development and deployment.

We are looking for an Engineering Group Manager for High Voltage Battery Systems Controls team that leads the requirement, controls, diagnostics and software development to support growing Electrification business!

In this people leader role, besides having responsibilities for specific areas of technology and product, you will help develop strategic direction and lead execution to support business goals as we reinvent ourselves from auto manufacturer to a tech company ! What You'll Do:

  • Enable self-organizing, empowered teams to deliver HV Battery Systems Controls and Software product on-time with quality, help develop actionable strategy and support execution in an agile framework.
  • Primary focus on HV Battery Management Systems' communication, sensing and signal integrity software development, testing, automation and integration.
  • Foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop employees and their careers.
  • Establish and monitor budget for responsible activities.
  • Execute resource planning for required activities.
  • Model and foster GM's Core Values and Winning Behaviors.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering , Mathematics or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems, software, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development.
  • SW Development process comprehension and ability to navigate processes to meet deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, technical initiatives with significant cross-functional impact.
  • Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction; exceptional communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to "Deal with Ambiguity" while driving timely decision making.
  • Understanding of Scaled Agile Framework.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills):

  • Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration or MS with Technical Focus.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems, software, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development.
  • Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to: achieve results through effective teamwork, lead numerous projects with different focal areas to successful completion, and manage and measure work through metrics, data, and results.
  • Prior experience in Electrification domains.
  • Deep familiarity and understanding with embedded software, systems engineering, mechatronic architecture, testing automation frameworks and/or build deployment.
  • Experience managing a global team that is geographically dispersed.
  • Working knowledge of embedded controls development tool set - (e.g. Jira/Jira Cloud, GIT ecosystem, INCA, etc.).
