BOAT Government Affairs Liaison - Springfield, VA

We are looking to hire a Boat Government Affairs Liaison to increase member value and support BoatU.S. Member attention by promoting bipartisan boater friendly policies. In this role you will serve as a liaison to elected and government officials to further BoatU.S. positions, defend boaters' interests at a federal, state, and regional level, assist in determining Association positions on a wide range of policy topics, promoting boating as a preferred recreational activity. You will be responsible for communicating policy positions to Members, boaters, boating groups, Congress and other agencies. You will also work with BoatU.S. affairs to provide timely and frequent press information, direct grassroots campaigns to influence public boating policy issues, pursue proactive relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, federal agency officials, elected state representatives and state agency officials.

Must be able to multi-task to a high standard.
Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills.
Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
Must be able to communicate effectively verbally, via email, social media and letter writing in a professional manner and with integrity and political savvy.
Must be able to speak in a clear, empathetic and professional manner by telephone.
Must perform duties at a stationary workstation.
Must be able to complete other duties as assigned.
