CMC Raw Material Lab Technician

Job Description Summary

The technician will be a member of the Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) and Environmental Barrier Coating (EBC) materials and processing team whose mission is to advance state of the art CMC's and EBC's and enable CMC technologies for commercial and military aerospace applications.

In this role, you will closely partner with engineers and specialists to execute CMC slurry, prepreg and tow characterization and fabrication tasks within a lab environment.

  • In this role you will execute detailed tasks per standard operating procedures and other technical documents in a lab environment.
  • Tasks include operating tape fabrication and slurry mixing equipment, mixing chemicals to create different slurry and tape compositions, perform measurements on slurry and tape to characterize the properties

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform required tasks which include chemical handling, slurry mixing, tape winding, and characterization per standard operating procedures and other technical documents.
  • Work well with minimum supervision
  • Perform detailed measurements and document data in the appropriate forms for CMC raw material
  • Work closely with engineers and specialists to give feedback on planning and results.
  • Maintain compliance with GE policies, procedures and directives, including vouchering, reporting, operating, environmental and safety practices

Required Qualifications

  • College degree, high school diploma, or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a relevant environment

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
