The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Job Description

GE Aerospace is a world-leading provider of jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of aviation technology to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Avionics Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Systems Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of our avionics products. This role requires a strong understanding of systems engineering principles, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Develop and define system requirements, architectures and specifications.
  • Perform system integration and testing to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, and hardware engineers, to develop and validate system requirements.
  • Conduct system-level troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and test plans.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Coordinate with project managers to track progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders and management.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among project team members to achieve project goals.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, testing or hardware/software product development.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with system integration and testing.
  • Experience in project management activities.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ARP4754, DO-178, DO-254).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

Desired qualifications

  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and programming languages (e.g., C, C++).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Bash).
  • Understanding of safety-critical systems and reliability engineering.
  • Experience with aviation data transfer/communication standards: ARINC 664, MIL-STD-155, TSN.
  • Knowledge of avionics systems, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems.
  • Certification in project management .
