SwissCo&Lux Controller - Accounting Manager

Bucharest, Romania

Join our Swiss & Luxembourg Controller Team and act as a legal entity controller of Garrett's main entities. In this role you will be responsible for month-end closure, accounting and reporting in both US GAAP and Local GAAP, statutory compliance of legal entities, SOX compliance as well as supporting tax compliance. You will coordinate with key business stakeholder to ensure objectives such as: sales and sales admin, C2C team, AP Team, ISC Finance, all the other global entity controllers for intercompany accounting, pricing team, tax, treasury, etc. As part of the role, you will manage a team of 3 accountants out of which 2 team leaders.

  • Executing Month/Quarter/Year end close related activities for assigned entities as per US GAAP close calendar.
  • Preparation of Monthly / Quarterly / Yearly US GAAP reporting schedules.
  • Preparation of Balance Sheet account reconciliations as per account reconciliation policy in a qualitative manner & supervision of the Balance Sheet account reconciliations prepared by direct reports to ensure these adhere to the policy as well as quality standards.
  • Drive and ensure complete and accurate fixed assets capitalizations, transfers and disposal of assets on the books of all EMEA entities and Approval of budget and asset transfers in compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Drive month-end intercompany accounting, reconciliation and resolution of OOBs, monthly reconciliation of intercompany receivables and payables and ensure timely resolution of intercompany differences

2.External reporting and SOX compliance

  • Perform on / before time preparation and filing of statutory financial statements of Swiss and LuxCo entities with limited support of external service providers.
  • Manage the external audit with Deloitte, supporting coportate controller / treasury / tax / legal review of the financial statements and working with legal for ultimate filing of the financial statements with appropriate authorities.
  • Drive audit of US GAAP financials as well as tick & tie of 10Q / 10K
  • Support tax team with statutory financial statement's forecasts, Subpart F Questionnaires, revenue surveys, Swiss and Lux tax return preparation and response to tax inspector's notices
  • File the quarterly Swiss national bank surveys
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls, remediate failed SOX controls, and attend SOX walkthroughs

3. General Process and People Management

  • Drive and sustain the current system of controls, procedures, and forms deployed around legal entity controlling
  • Drive and sustain the current system of controls, procedures, and forms deployed around FA, Banking, intercompany and controllership activities
  • Drive the development and implementation of new and/or enhanced procedures and automation to drive efficiency and optimize the workflow of the process, with the objective of continuous improvement
  • Drive timely response to inquiries or requests for information from other functional and non-functional stakeholders, perform ad-hoc analysis and prepare reports, as requested by management
  • Drive communication and coordination with P2P, C2C, FP&A and treasury leads to keep abreast of latest developments in operations and plan ahead.
  • Train and coach team members to groom them for horizontal / vertical movement.

Qualification:

  • University Degree in Accounting/Economics/Finance

Experience:

  • 8 years minimum of experience in accounting, preferably gained within an international company
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a small team (up to 5 people)
  • Relevant manufacturing industry experience would be considered a plus
  • Experience collaborating/working in a Centre of Excellence/Financial Shared Service Centre environment.
  • Previous Public accounting/auditing experience is required.
  • Experience in working within a start-up/transition environment will be an added advantage.

Key skills:

  • Fluency in English
  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP, Swiss GAAP and local accounting standards. Excellent business acumen including company, legal entity, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Good level of working knowledge of SAP, HFM is a plus.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with multiple stakeholders in different locations.
  • Demonstrate negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, with ability to quickly and positively influence different levels of the organization.
  • Ability/experience in managing employees.
