The Fort Collins Coloradoan/coloradoan.com, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a reporter to cover food and entertainment in Northern Colorado.
The responsibilities include reporting on restaurants, breweries, music festivals, beer festivals, and business openings and closings, particularly in key communities. The Fort Collins area, along with Northern Colorado at large, is experiencing growth. The reporter will join a team to cover important aspects of the community.
This role involves covering the craft beer industry, including major players such as New Belgium and Odell Brewing Co., as well as smaller breweries. An interest in craft beer, both from a taste perspective and from the business side, is crucial.

Northern Colorado's food scene is also expanding, and readers are interested in coverage about local dining. The reporter should be able to identify and report on new restaurants, cafes, bars, and other eateries.
There are many exciting festivals in the area throughout the year, including those focused on bicycling, food, music and more (even a parade of corgi dogs). The reporter should be able to report from the field for events like this, blending video, photo and written coverage to provide news consumers a true multimedia experience.
Candidates should have excellent writing skills and be proficient with photo and video content creation. Coverage often requires close-up shots and short videos optimized for social media. The ability to manage multiple stories and meet deadlines is essential. Previous food reporting experience and at least two years' experience at a daily newspaper or equivalent media are preferred.
Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends and cover general-assignment breaking news. Relocation is required.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's in communications, journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of experience in professional journalism writing and reporting or substantial internship or fellowship experience.
- Understanding of metrics, social media and SEO.
- Solid news judgment.
- Self-motivation and self-direction.
- Top-notch planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and excel under intense deadline pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
- Command of media law and principles of ethical conduct.
- This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.

The hourly rate for this role will range between $21.88 and $34.18. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience.
