In this position...
The PTI Vibration CAE Technical Expert is responsible for vibration durability CAE analysis method development and vibration related durability issue resolution for Air Induction, Climate, Cooling, Fuel, Exhaust & Mounts systems. Daily responsibilities are durability CAE analysis for PTI systems program support, which include project scoping, analysis method/procedure development, analysis guideline interpretation, and failure analysis application. In addition, support performance review for team members per Ford performance + processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll do...
Attend IPTSE staff and department meetings.
Participate in the IPTSE CAE TDRM. Promote participation, manage topics, follow ups, and drive the agenda.
Investigate and develop new CAE technology/tools to improve design analysis methodologies that can further improve component/systems design, and analysis efficiency.
Collaborate/Communicate with all PTI Functions to understand the durability requirements of PTI system/subsystem designs and implement/develop the CAE methods to support new designs and resolve current durability related issues.
Develop as Installed vibrational durability analysis methods and conduct correlation for CAE methods based on design/application requirements. Create and maintain PTI CAE analysis guidelines/procedures.
Define vibration related test requirements/instrumentations, and process/interpret testing data for durability analysis.
Define/validate the post processing procedure for material failure analysis (including high cycle fatigue analysis). Maintain fatigue material database for PTI components.
Implement and apply CAE tools for robust design actions against noise factors and conduct CAE based structural optimization and validation.
Maintain CAE process disciplines, and analyses quality.
Teach solid mechanics, finite element method and other numerical methods and failure analysis to durability CAE engineers.
Develop PTI Core CAE Annual training plan.
Provide direction and support to engineers and obtain necessary resources to support issue resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS

You'll have...
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
10+ years of automotive experience.
6 years in durability/vibration fatigue CAE simulation.

Even better, you may have...
In depth expertise in solid mechanics.
Comprehensive understanding of linear and non-linear structural FEA methods; static, quasi-static, dynamic analyses.
Strong expertise in FEA solvers such as ABAQUS, NASTRAN, etc.
Familiarization in material behavior modeling, and material constitutive equation developments.
In depth Knowledge of vibration theory and its application.
Good knowledge of mechanical fatigue (uniaxial and multi-axial fatigue), deterministic and random vibration induced fatigue, vibration duty cycle determination and vibration fatigue damage calculation.
Expert in fatigue software such as Femfat, nCode etc.
Expert in FEA pre-and post-processing such as Hypermesh, SimLab, ANSA, HyperView etc.
Proficiency in developing CAE methods, CAE guidelines/procedures.
Experience with CAE process standardization, formalization, and automation.
Strong problem-solving skills, experience with robust design methods, and structural optimization methods.
Experience working with D&R engineering team and testing teams; demonstrate alignment of the CAE team with D&R and testing organization.
Excellent communication, teaching, presentation, and analytical skills.
