About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Editor, this position is responsible for leading and inspiring our talented copy team while developing strong cross-functional relationships with Design, Merchandising, and Marketing. This is a hands-on role for an experienced, commerce-focused copy manager who loves to find exactly the right word for the right asset.
Responsibilities
- Ensure consistency in brand messaging across all platforms and touchpoints.
- Lead the copy department, ensuring all assets help support the goals of our partner teams in marketing and merchandising.
- Nurture a department that's best-in-class at marketing content, branding, and e-commerce copywriting including maintaining SEO standards, email best practices (inclusive of creating segment-specific copy) and print mailer expertise.

- Partner with design to create compelling creative concepts with strong storytelling viewpoints and achieve marketing KPIs.
- Oversee conception and execution for cross-channel brand initiatives in conjunction with Marketing and Creative.
- Ensure the Food52 core brand voice remains strong but always evolving, with an eye toward growth, representation, and accessibility to make this a welcoming, inclusive place for home cooks and homebodies of all backgrounds.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of copy experience for a e-commerce destination
- Minimum 3+ years of management experience
- E-commerce and SEO experience
- Experience running a high volume in-house copy team
- Network of copy freelancers
- Ability to influence up and across in matrixed organizations
- Strong point of view on copy and brand best practices while championing collaboration and working with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize multiple high-priority tasks, manage your day-to-day schedule, and hit deadlines consistently
- Excellent communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
For residents of NY, NJ or CT the compensation range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000. Factors used to determine the salary range for a given position may impact what salary within the stated range may be offered to any particular candidate (e.g., years of experience, level of education obtained, etc.).
