Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Senior Engineer - Sheetmetal DfX based in Chennai.
What a typical day looks like:
- Analyze product design to determine the most efficient Production /assembly process by using SolidWorks / DFM Pro etc.
- Analyze the cumulative effect of tolerances in an assembly.
- Analyze the product design critical actuation interferences to find potential problems.
- Perform Dfx analysis and Create DFx report with potential issue and its recommendation to eliminate.
- Share and review DFx report with customer and propose modification/ alternative to reduce the cost of the product.
- Strong knowledge in Sheetmetal cutting, punching, bending, forming, folding and assembling.
- Evaluation of Sheetmetal tools and fabrication methodologies
- Track and monitor the design recommendation implemented in the product.
- Collaborate site and multiple stake holder to ensure flawless execution.
- Update process documents and obey as per quality standards.
- Hardware evaluation vs supplier recommendation.
- GD&T knowledge
- Fabrication processes knowledge to meet Tolerances accuracy evaluation.
- Technical Knowledge in Punching, Bending, Tapping, Assy. Insertion, Welding & Hardware (riveting)
- BE/ B. Tech (Mechanical/ Automotive / Production), Diploma (Mechanical / Automotive) professional with typically: 4 -12 years of experience in Sheetmetal Design, Manufacturing & DFx (DFM, DFC & DFA) Analysis for Sheetmetal Products.
- Diploma in Tool and Die Making will be added advantage.
- Knowledge in die design (Progressive, Transfer, Combination, Compound Die &Multiple Die), Manufacturing process and Materials.
- Hands on in 3DCAD Software tools and experience in Sheetmetal die design tools such as SolidWorks, Cre-O, Logo Press, AutoForm-DieDesigner & etc.,
- Experience in sheet metal product design for rack cabins, cabinet & product enclosures.
- Experience in Fixture and gauge design for Sheetmetal product production.
- Aptitude to work with a multi-functional team to define requirements and suitable metrics for the performance of new products and process.
- Knowledge & direct experience in NPI operations and manufacturing engineering.
- Able to perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
- Experience with Continuous Process Improvement, Kanban and Lean manufacturing principals.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic startup environment.
- Work with other engineering team members to improve existing design or Process.
