Vice President - Renewable Energy Project Finance (New York)

Job Summary: This position leads underwriting efforts by servicing Energy portfolios at the highest level of ability and complexity. Supports the Energy lending team with expertise in structuring, analysis, and credit documentation for Energy credit actions. Establishes viability of repayment sources and prepares credit approval memos. Identifies, gathers, and reviews financial information to determine credit grades and appropriate loan structuring. Assesses and communicates risks to assist department risk mitigation strategies. Provides service and support for both associates and customers, assisting in customer calls and may assist in identifying cross-sales opportunities. Offers guidance on escalated or difficult underwriting matters. Leads special projects as needed to facilitate Energy lending activities and service capabilities and may act in a leadership role to less experienced underwriters in the work group.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall external-facing deal processes including day to day interaction with client, consultants, and lawyers
  • Lead internal teams across workstreams related to deal underwriting and processing
  • Review transaction legal documents and provide commentary in the context of deal negotiation
  • Review financial models prepared by junior team members, ensuring accuracy and functionality
  • Lead due diligence efforts and prepare Q&A logs for potential lending opportunities
  • Review consultant reports from independent engineers, insurance consultants, appraisal, and power market consultants
  • Prepare internal credit memos
  • Prepare marketing materials for potential clients and lenders
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and power markets
  • Train junior team members on modeling and other job responsibilities


The base pay for this position is relative to your experience, but the range is generally $150,000 to $175,000 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay. Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve month analysis. Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve month analysis.
    Preferred
    • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field
    • 6 years of experience in project finance at a corporate or investment bank, renewable energy company, consulting firm, or renewables focused private equity or private credit fund.
    • Outstanding financial modeling skills (a modeling test will be required)
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort interacting with clients and consultants
    • Strong understanding of tax equity and debt structures used in the U.S. renewables space
    • Strong understanding of risks related to power and renewable energy projects
    • Experience reviewing legal documents
