What will you contribute?

Reporting to the Revenue Accounting Partner, the Lead for Accounting will be part the Global Finance organization of Finastra and work as a core member of the team of 3 staff who comprise the Accounting Centre of Excellence.

We are a small team but cover the entire company including the Group and Subsidiaries. We enjoy accounting and keeping up with developments globally and bringing this to life when applied against our internal operations.

Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Your responsibilities and deliverables as a Lead for Accounting will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leading accounting work streams in systems and process optimization in the Order to Cash Process
  • Close liaison with the accounting shared service center, sales operations and IS teams to help identify, resolve both technical and data related issues within the Order to Cash system landscape.
  • Identify and help implement enhancements and efficiencies in both the systems and processes in the Order to Cash Process.
  • Developing and delivering operational and systems training materials in user friendly formats for over 200 staff
  • Assessing, documenting and resolving the accounting impacts of significant and complex transactions in advance of contract execution to optimize outcomes for Finastra
  • Prepare key working papers ensuring judgements/issues are appropriate and reported upon where necessary
  • Contribute to external financial reporting in order to ensure IFRS compliance including liaising with auditors as required
  • Working with internal stakeholders such as Tax and Company Secretarial on financial reporting matters at Group and local levels to ensure accounting matters are dealt with promptly and communicated to avoid unnecessary surprises

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Enjoys accounting, is naturally inquisitive and operates with urgency
  • Enjoys working in accounting systems
  • Can quickly identify issues in data or technical functionality and can help resolve these
  • Leads with confidence when exercising judgments which are grounded in International Accounting Standards and supported by a robust understanding of transactions
  • Possesses first class communication skills to allow the judgement thought process and conclusions to be transparent to stakeholders in simple memos that address risk, materiality, interdependencies and conflicts
  • Can provide training and presentations on complex system landscape in an understandable way across various forums and levels of the organization
  • Is a Qualified Accountant (ACA) with at least 2 years post qualification experience either at a large accounting practice or working in industry

Required Experience:

  • In depth working knowledge of accounting systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Oracle.
  • In depth working knowledge of IFRS15 (and ASC606) including an understanding of legacy standards, IASB (and FASB) policy development, and the IFRS15 transition resource group guidance
  • Relevant experience working as part of a project team implementing or optimizing accounting systems.
  • Experience of software and financial services is required
  • Qualified Accountant with broad working knowledge of IFRS and an awareness of USGAAP
  • High degree of computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Excel and general ledger software.
