The Group
FMR Equity is a wholly owned subsidiary of FMR LLC that provides investment management services to clients through Fidelity's distribution channels. With over $1 trillion in assets under management, the FMR Equity team of investment professionals evaluates, constructs and manages investment portfolios for millions of fund shareholders.
The Team
The Private Equity Team sources, diligences and recommends investments in private, growth stage companies held in funds managed by FMR Equity and in the Fidelity Venture Capital Fund I.
The Value You Deliver
The sector specialist will report to the Global Head of Private Equity Investments. They will work closely with the Head, as well as with other members of the Private Equity team, playing a vital role in diligencing mid-to-late-stage Venture Capital investments on behalf of Fidelity funds and the Fidelity Venture Capital Fund I. The sector specialist provides general research support to the seven Private Equity analysts located globally in Boston, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Europe. Responsibilities include investment diligence and research support including TAM and industry analysis, public multiple comparables analysis, expert calls and surveys, comparing KPIs, company investment history, collecting and reviewing data room files, company models, and other proprietary research. They will also serve as a liaison between the Private Equity analysts and the Treasurer's Office to ensure information flow for existing investments for fair value purposes. We are looking for someone to join our team in Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA.

The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated leadership/initiative in studies/extracurricular activities as well as an academic/intellectual interest in venture capital/growth equity investing. They should possess excellent communication, presentation and writing skills and be able to clearly articulate research findings. This role requires someone who is hard working, hungry to learn and achievement- and results-oriented.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
We are seeking candidates who have the following characteristics:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in areas related to security investing, financial statement analysis, accounting, valuation, economics or statistics
- A graduate degree in a financial or investment related discipline, a hard science, mathematics, or a CFA charter, are a plus
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills
- Very high levels of initiative and motivation
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with multiple analysts globally
- The ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects
- Experience in sourcing, manipulating and presenting data
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills including macros and an aptitude for technology
- Experience with Bloomberg and FactSet
- Demonstrated experience/interest/skill in quantitative analysis and research
- The ability to work with external information sources (analysts, companies, consultants)
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
