Position Description:
Designs and architects Cloud native software applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Builds server-side Graph and REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and NodeJS. Develops reusable Cloud patterns and components using Java and Python. Architects and develops enterprise scale data solutions. Designs end-to-end data engineers solutions using a variety of data processing patterns. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business unit and participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions. Acts as a technical mentor to the software engineers teams and brings them up to speed on the latest data technologies and promotes continuous learning.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Authors and reviews data architecture artifacts, deliverables, and processes.
- Architects and designs next generation data products and platforms.
- Explores new technology trends to modernize data ecosystems.
- Drives innovation and guides teams to implement solutions with future thinking.
- Collaborates with internal and external teams to deliver technology solutions for business needs.
- Resolves technical roadblocks to the team and mitigating potential risks.
- Designs, develops and modifies complex and major software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
- Develops and directs software system tests and validation procedures, programs, and documentation.
- Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
- Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.
- Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.
- Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.
- Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Researches and recommends new technologies.
- Works across groups to identify opportunities for organization-wide technology initiatives.
- Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.
- Identifies and plans for future resource needs.
- Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing and implementing Web applications, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and databases in a financial services environment using Java, Spring, Angular, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Azure.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing and implementing Web applications, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and databases in a financial services environment using Java, Spring, Angular, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Azure.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing and architecting resilient, secured, and highly scalable, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and databases (Oracle) to enable development teams to build applications and systems, using Java 11, open-source frameworks (Springboot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring AOP, OAuth, or JWT), Integration frameworks (Apache Camel, EJB, and Azure Service Bus), Cloud provider services (Azure and AWS EKS), and containerization frameworks (Kubernetes).
- DE designing and architecting responsive client-side applications using MVC frameworks (Angular 12 and 14), client-side technologies (HTML5, CSS, SASS, Bootstrap, or jQuery), Web security principles (XSS or CSRF), and IDEs (WebStorm and Visual Studio Code).
- DE creating architecture roadmaps and coordinating solution architecture for digital user experiences by modernizing business processes to support plan sponsors and back office associates in service requests; and processing and updating transactions, participant data, payroll contributions, deduction platforms, employee stock purchase programs, online grant acceptance programs, and performing blackout management.
- DE defining and architecting Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) infrastructure with automated testing of business capabilities; defining and creating the build and deployment pipeline architecture for Cloud native applications using container orchestration engines (AWS ECS, AWS EKS, or Azure AKS) and serverless patterns (Azure functions).
