Actuarial Assistant

The Role

Based in Boston, the Actuarial Assistant is a key member of Fidelity Investment Life Insurance (FILI) Company's growing product team. The Actuarial Assistant will help drive FILI's innovative approach to Pricing and Product Development. The ideal candidate has experience with individual annuity and life insurance products and pricing, as well as technical proficiency. The candidate will assist on research initiatives and develop analysis to assess attractiveness of adding new products to FILI's product roadmap. Other key roles include:

  • Help manage our current suite of FILI products, including ongoing support for annuities and life insurance offerings
  • Support models and perform analysis to support the pricing of annuity and life insurance products
  • Help analyze potential reinsurance options on annuity and life insurance products
  • Support our continued product enhancements and pricing considerations on our Digital Term and Digital Annuity offerings
  • Work with the broader team and our internal distribution agency on building out product specifications
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and other tools to develop pricing and projection models to help support the business
  • Collaborate with diverse teams across FIG and Fidelity to support variety of ad hoc insurance related projects
  • Clearly communicate results both in writing and in person to senior stakeholders.

This role is part of FILI's Actuarial Student Program - providing generous actuarial exam support and competitive exam raises.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 3+ years of proven insurance experience.
  • Progress towards Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (SOA)
  • Experience with individual life insurance and annuity products. Pricing and Product Development experience is a plus
  • Technical skills to build new models and/or expand or enhance existing models including model development, testing, controls and documentation
  • Critical reading and writing skills to help adhere to extensive regulatory rules related to insurance products
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and strong user of other Microsoft products
  • Prior experience working in Prophet or another modeling software package such as AXIS, MG-ALFA, and/or MoSes is a plus
  • Familiarity with Python, Visual Basic, SQL, or other programing languages is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to help various stakeholders understand risks associated with insurance products and explain sophisticated topics to non-technical people at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships as you work collaboratively across teams.
