Assistant General Manager

General Summary The Assistant General Manager is responsible for directing the daily activities of the warehouse, including labor scheduling, supervision, and proper utilization of space, equipment, and manpower. Key responsibilities include: staffing, warehouse operation, maintenance of the facility and equipment, implementation of safety/security/housekeeping/and sanitation programs, performing to budget, and customer service. Primary Responsibilities Plan and schedule all operation activities including receiving, triage, sorting, put-away, kitting, quality, shipping, liquidation, auction, maintenance, and administrative activities to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient manner. Utilize labor standards and forecasted volume to determine headcount requirements. Create headcount hiring plan to meet forecasted volumes. Preparing, maintaining, communicating all operational Standard Operating Procedures. Managing, coaching, mentoring, developing staff to achieve prescribed objectives. Monitoring and ensuring departmental/facility performance metrics are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of all necessary reports and records regarding warehouse operations. Developing, implementing and directing equipment, preventative maintenance programs, safety programs, and facility building/grounds maintenance programs. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within team. Utilize Six Sigma and Lean methodology to identify, lead, and execute high impact process improvement projects. Create cost models detailing impact of process improvements. Conduct cost-benefit analyses and ROI assessments to justify investments in technologies, processes, and initiatives. Present findings and recommendations to senior management, highlighting the business impact of proposed solutions. Partner with finance and procurement teams to ensure alignment of initiatives with organizational objectives and financial goals. Presenting data and solutions to customers, both internal and external. Facilitate monthly and quarterly business reviews with customer and suppliers. Education/Experience A BA/BS degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) plus years supply chain management experience within the Reverse Logistics Industry a plus. Five (5) plus years’ experience in a logistics environment utilizing WMS (Manhattan Associates or similar system preferred) and RF technology. Five (5) plus years of experience in a fast-paced, large volume, high-intensity environment, with strong focus on meeting/exceeding measurable metrics. Previous experience in a returns/reverse operation preferred. Three (3) plus years’ experience managing full profit and loss financials. Three (3) plus years’ experience implementing continuous improvement programs. Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels, in support of our customer relationships; demonstrated self-confidence, particularly with client relationships; strong relationship building skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, employees, customers, and the general public. A proven track record of mentoring and developing promotability with direct reports and subordinates. Technical competency in Six Sigma skills: Lean, Kaizen/Work-out, process management, change management and advanced statistical analysis a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Customer service driven. Strong team player. Physical/Cognitive Requirements With or without accommodation: Ability to follow policies and procedures. Ability to sit/walk/stand for up to 10 hours per day. Ability to intermittently crawl, squat, climb, twist, bend, stoop, push or pull. Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift/carry items less than 40 pounds. Working Conditions General office environment that is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available.
