Senior Network Service Engineer, Federal

Job Summary

As a Senior Network Engineer functioning in a tech-heavy Sales Engineering (SE) role, candidate is responsible for gathering comprehensive technical requirements from customers and designing detailed technical solutions to satisfy those requirements. Coordinates solution details with other stakeholders, such as Sales, PMO, customer partners, and Engineering as required. Prepares extensive turnover packages for Implementations for sold solutions. Executes implementations as required. Serves as a technical expert/SME on SE processes and tools. Performs continuous improvement on SE processes and tools.

Candidate must possess an active US Government Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph

Responsibilities

  • Engage with prospective customer personnel to capture detailed requirements for potential solutions
  • Design quality technical solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Validate solution pricing against Equinix financial models
  • Submit approved solutions to Equinix Account Executives and track progress to customer signature/purchase
  • Prepare detailed turnover information for purchased solutions to Implementations for execution
  • Maintain proficiency with associated systems and processes
  • Employ continuous process improvement to streamline existing processes and improve efficiency
  • Implement sold solutions as required
  • Develop and leverage relationships with internal and external partner teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess an active US Government Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
  • Foundational knowledge in IT fundamentals, processes, and organizational functions (PMO, NOC, Sales, Implementations, etc)
  • Advanced knowledge of network fundamentals (network models, switching functions, routing functions, firewall functions)
  • Advanced knowledge of network concepts (TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP), switching, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN)
  • Extensive experience with network deployment, operation, and management
  • Extensive experience with network solution design
  • Familiarity with monitoring systems and functionality
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Certification preferred, especially in solution design
  • 10 years experience in IT positions preferred
  • 4 years experience in solution design positions preferred
