Legal Counsel, Product & Services

Job Summary

This opportunity of Legal Counsel, Product & Services is primarily responsible for providing legal support for Equinix's Managed Services organization. We are looking for a pragmatic, flexible and motivated candidate to be a key member of Equinix's global Legal Product & Services team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal support to business-side global Managed Services team and develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative and efficient ways
  • Support Managed Services product lifecycle, including launching new services specifically related to the acceleration of digital services
  • Support Managed Services in its globalization efforts and cross-border selling initiatives
  • Work closely with other team members globally to support the roll out of new products and features, including the purchase/license of technology and drafting contracts to sell new services
  • Work with global peers to understand and prepare the business for regulatory and privacy impacts of global Managed Services
  • Draft, review, negotiate and serve as the Managed Services SME for both customer and vendor contracts, where required, and understand Equinix's current positioning related to customer and vendor requests
  • Conduct presentations to train and educate business and legal stakeholders on review processes and procedures, legal documents, negotiation strategies, legal positioning around Equinix products, and the like
  • Review and harmonize current agreements and policies related to Managed Services
  • Function as part of the wider global legal team, including engaging with other departments, providing input on commercial issues, undertaking any global projects, initiatives, deals, corporate or other commercial transactions that may arise or be assigned
  • Display flexibility and willingness to assist with colocation and digital services business support, as needed
  • Assist with integration of acquired companies and related services

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience including the subject matters relevant to this role
  • Experience negotiating contracts with customers and/or vendors (experience with software and SaaS negotiations a plus)
  • Experience with managed services, infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service a plus
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working on a global team and supporting multiple countries/regions
  • General knowledge of regulatory schemes impacting Equinix customers
  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent is required
  • Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which they are hired or ability to qualify to practice as an in-house counsel in the relevant jurisdiction
  • Experience in successfully articulating concepts and complex information in a concise manner through presentations, written communication, and various channels
  • Ability to be flexible with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once
  • Strategic and creative thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in an unstructured environment requiring new perspectives and creative approaches
  • Adaptable, flexible, pragmatic and solution-oriented, you must be willing to work and collaborate with the business in a fast paced, global and ambitious business unit
