Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Director of IT who will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that computing systems and equipment are operating effectively and efficiently. This role requires, initially, that the candidate be able to perform various duties within the company’s IT departments. This candidate will build our IT department over the coming months to support our internal operations and internal customers. This candidate will be responsible for putting in place our company’s IT strategy, best practices, policies and stand operating procedures.
To be successful in this position you will demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the industry’s best practices and evidence of a professional track record of effective technical management, information analysis, and a thorough understanding of computer hardware and software systems.
Responsibilities
- Managing IT staff by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance
- Overseeing the annual IT budget and ensuring cost-effectiveness
- Monitoring daily operations, including server hardware, software, networking, security, and operating systems
- Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance
- Selecting and purchasing new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary
- Testing, troubleshooting, and modifying information systems so that they operate effectively
- Generating performance reports for operating systems
- Assuring all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations
- Evaluating technology risks to develop a network disaster recovery plan and backup procedures
- Remaining up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices
- Provide internal staff support for applications, tools, and equipment
- Procure hardware and equipment for new hires and replacement equipment
- Work with People Operations to continuously improve our onboarding experience
- Manage our hardware life cycle and EOL preparation strategy
- Develop and implement company IT policies, best practices, and standard operating procedures
- Develop, implement, and manage all company software solutions, tools, subscriptions
- Continuous look at our internal tools and software solutions and ensure effectiveness, economies of scale, cost control and utilization
- Control the acquisition and implementation of all company tools, software, and subscriptions
- Work with cross-functional leadership to ensure continuous improvements in IT operations, deliverables, and expectations
- Manage the security of data center and Corporate wide infrastructure security
