Team Overview:
In the Special Assets team at Edward Jones Trust Company (EJTC), you will focus on delivering Human Centered Complete Wealth Management in the context of managing client unique assets.

What You'll do:
As a Unique Asset Specialist, you will manage EJTC's unique asset holdings, end to end (pre-acceptance review, ongoing maintenance, and sales/conveyances). Unique assets may include, but are not limited to, mineral/oil/gas interests, promissory notes, closely held business interests, loans, vehicles, collections or collectibles, and tangible personal property owned by a trust under EJTC's administration. The unique assets are located across the US and the position is responsible for remotely managing these assets and transactions through appropriate third-party relationships. More specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Verification of asset ownership, appraisals and inspections, property taxes, insurance, maintenance and safety issues, and income collection, as applicable
  • Analysis, preparation, monitoring, risk mitigation and sale of unique assets in partnership with the Trust Officer, Portfolio Manager, and/or third parties
  • Conducting periodic asset reviews as required by regulation, policy or procedure
  • Communication with trust officers, portfolio managers, branch teams, attorneys, realtors, and outside professionals
  • View the resource of time in a strategic manner, allocating such resources across all priorities as they shift day to day.
  • Responsible for the oversight of Closely Held Assets that are held in Trust and collection of financial documents on a regular basis
  • Oversee and monitor the activities of Closely Held Assets, knowledge in financial statement analysis, investment valuation methods, and oversight of the governing agreement and corporate organizational documents
  • Perform annual reviews for each Closely Held Asset
  • Completes due diligence for new business that new business and determines a plan for administration
  • Collaborates with internal partners on transfers, distributions, and sale of Closely Held Assets

Skills/Requirements

What Experience You Need:

  • 5+ years' experience in the management of unique assets, with advanced knowledge of at least one asset class
  • Must have 3-5 years' experience in management of Closely Held Assets
  • Significant experience managing vendor relationships and accompanying Service Level Agreements
  • Knowledge of fiduciary principles and basic ability to interpret trust and other estate planning documents
  • Knowledge in financial statement analysis, investment valuation methods, corporate organizational documents, and all aspects of corporate governance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to speak with attorneys, valuation experts, appraisers, and other vendors
  • Ability to use multiple data systems and navigate the internet to obtain information relevant to Unique Assets

What could set you apart:

  • College Degree strongly preferred
  • Real Estate Salesperson License
  • Certifications, licenses, or experience in unique assets management required
