Eaton's IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer.
What you'll do:
Position Overview:
The lead electrical engineer will design and develop eMobility Power Distribution and Protection (PD&P) products for various OEMs, adhering to Eaton's quality management system. They will also support new business pursuits and develop PD&P technology for mass production.
In this function you will:
• Update product designs based on customer needs, manufacturing opportunities, and supply base.
• Collaborate with a global team to develop, launch, and sustain products.
• Participate in requirements evaluation, design reviews, and product development.
• Generate product specifications from customer input.

• Test product changes and new products to ensure standards compliance.
• Launch new products using the Eaton PRO Launch process.
• Engage in problem-solving using methods like 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Why.
• Lead or support design and development tasks, including requirement analysis, design architecture, schematics, PCB design, DFMEAs, simulations, and documentation.
• Monitor and control electrical projects, including work planning, team meetings, and risk management.
• Conduct electrical design reviews and interface with component manufacturers.
• Create and execute design verification test plans.
• Prepare design documentation for release.
• Investigate project issues at module and vehicle levels.
• Participate in supplier and production line audits.
• Evaluate product change impacts and make update decisions.
• Interface with customers and internal teams for technical presentations and product requirements.
• Support vehicle builds, product launches, and production quality investigations.
• Assist with pre-production product building, validation, and evaluation.
• Support new business quotations and VA/VE activities.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electronic or electrical engineering from an accredited institution, Masters preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years working in new product development and sustaining product engineering
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Mexico without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Electronic hardware design - electronics for vehicle environments and interconnected products (systems)
• Automotive Electronics Design
• Good understanding of commercial vehicle markets, environmental requirements and related qualification testing required, including AIAG components (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, etc.)
• Reviewing and discussing technical requirements with OEM Customers
• Developing project work plans and project risk management
• Experience with product development from concept to release, including sustaining
• Experience with model-based design methods
• Experience in circuit design analysis: Worst Case Calculations, DFMEA, FTA, FMEDA etc.
• Electronic design tools: schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit and behavioral simulation, preferred tools: SPICE, Simplis, Altium Schematic and PCB design, Enovia PLM, MathCad
• Experience with C and embedded programming and software development tool, for Microchip/Atmel, ST, TI microprocessor families
• Maintaining various software tools (C compilers, programming environments, programming stations, serial data networks)
• Working knowledge of automotive serial data protocols (e.g. CAN J1939, J1587, J1708, LIN, CANopen)
• Experience working with:
o Micro-based designs
o DC/DC power supply (buck, boost etc.)
o FET and IGBT drivers.
o Relay, Contactors and fuses.
o A/D conversion
• Planning and scheduling testing: Designing test equipment, building test harnesses, creating test strategies, writing procedures/reports.
• Leading engineering tasks: Assembly drawings, PCB layout, software development, validation testing.
• Hands-on experience with test & measurement equipment.
• Evaluating thermal performance of electrical designs.
• Troubleshooting EMC issues.
• Creating and maintaining documentation for manufacturing.
• Discussing DFM/DFT topics with the manufacturing plant.
• Fluent English.
