Electrical/Electronic Development Test Engineer

Our Software, Electronics and Controls Centre of Excellence - Aerospace currently have an opportunity for an electrical and electronic development test engineer, for aircraft fuel and hydraulic systems solutions. Based at our Eaton Ltd site in Titchfield, Hampshire.

The ideal candidate will be experienced with Electrical/Electronics product test at PCB and component assembly levels, be self motivated, with strong organizational & communication skills, as the role will involve working with various engineering groups alongside the electrical and electronics design engineers and associated product teams to develop motor control solutions.

What you'll do:

You will be responsible for the creation of development test procedures with design support as needed, preparation of test equipment including loom and test box manufacture, delivery of specialist electrical and electronics product and associated materials test regimes, creation of test reports, completion of failure investigations plus general lab management duties including coordination of calibration of instrumentation, coordinating ordering of lab consumable materials etc.

These activity will support the execution of project actions spanning from concept development, detailed design, development, verification and qualification testing and in service specialist electronics support for failure investigation and troubleshooting of electrical products. The successful candidate must have an in depth practical knowledge and experience in the use of various digital and analogue laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators and analysers supporting completion of development test activities at PCB and product assembly levels. Experience of testing with potentially lethal voltages up to 1kVdc and the required safety regimes needed is essential.

This role reports to the Engineering Manager - Electronics, SwEC Centre of Excellence - EMEA.

  • Work alongside the analogue, power electronics, controls and electromagnetics engineers and associated product teams to develop motor control solutions for various products solutions including but not limited to Brushless DC, AC and brushed DC motors and drives.
  • Own the delivery of development and verification test campaigns with associated documentation, including presentation of test readiness reviews.
  • Experienced in the test of electronic/electrical products down to PCBA level
  • Experience of testing with potentially lethal voltages up to 1kVdc and the required safety regimes needed is essential
  • Experience of automation of test activity's would be advantageous
  • Extensive experience in the use of various laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators and analysers.
  • Good communication skills including report writing and project status reporting both written and verbal.
  • Own accountability for the on time delivery and quality of your allocated projects actions, including supporting progress reviews with technical team.
  • Robust technical problem solving abilities

Qualifications:

  • University/college, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience

Skills:

  • Electrical / Electronic Test
  • Communications skills - both verbal and written with ability to generate and communicate clear status reports.
  • Strong task management skills with good prioritization and time management
  • On time delivery of assigned tasks
