EHS Technician

Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking an EHS Technician. This role will take place at our facility in Greenwood, SC.

In the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Technician role, you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and deployment of the (Management System of Environmental, Safety, Security and Health) MESH initiatives. This includes all EHS activities involving EHS systems and processes such as OSHA guidelines and EPA/SCDHEC environmental/permit regulated compliance standards, reporting and communication of EHS metrics, collection, organization of EHS action items, supporting EHS training initiatives, supporting incident investigations, and supporting site internal assessment activities. This position will support and promote a zero incident EHS culture throughout the site.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $43499.97 - $63799.96 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute to a safe, engaged, and inclusive work culture by complying with all safety and environmental requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment, and performing 5S duties.
  • Assist with the implementation of MESH (Management System of Environmental, Safety, Security and Health) and will utilize MESH tools to drive improvements by participating in MESH Teams.
  • Work closely with management, engineering, and facility employees at all levels to facilitate, and/or assist teams in achieving department and plant goals as related to MESH, both safety standards and environmental compliance.
  • Supports site and workstation risk assessment development at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects.
  • Supports assigned departments as main point of contact for EHS matters. Support includes driving incident investigations, addressing safety concerns and participating in CI events.
  • Acts as MESH Champion Subject Matter Expert for assigned elements, addressing standing MESH assessment actions, and assists with driving ownership of MESH Program for other champions.
  • Hands-on support of regulatory and MESH compliance through inspections and auditing. Leading and problem-solving corrective actions on basic findings and concerns.
  • Supports EHS engagement through EHS initiatives and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
  • Creates training matrixes and supports training sessions to ensure that all training is defined, completed, and tracked in accordance with an annual plan.
  • Ability to perform tasks quickly and effectively using Eaton digital tools, i.e., Benchmark, EASE, MESHPrism, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, etc.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a two-year technical degree program OR Associates degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Relocation is not offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate Greenwood, SC area (50 miles) will be considered for this position (with exception of internal candidates currently assigned to one of our Greenwood, SC sites). Active-Duty Military Service Member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years' experience in Environmental, Health & Safety industry or Associates degree/progression towards a four-year degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline, or technical field.
  • Additional knowledge and/or experience participating in projects, conducting analysis for root cause identification, and understanding how to identify problems and reach resolutions is beneficial.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other database functions for reporting and analysis.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach at or above shoulder level; grip; and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; stoop; lift; carry; push; pull; and grip. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to push/pull up to or greater than 50 pounds. The vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to listen and to talk.
