PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Eaton is hiring a Communications Manager for its Mobility Group business. This Hybrid position can be based in Southfield, MI ; Beachwood, OH ; Pittsburgh, PA, or Raleigh, NC. This role will be responsible for creating and implementing the global communication strategies and activities for Eaton's Mobility Group. Key responsibilities include leading the strategic planning, development, deployment, and measurement of communication activities across the business (Vehicle and eMobility) in support of Eaton's brand.
Additionally, the individual in this role will advise and support the Mobility Senior Leadership Team with global strategic communications and plans.
They will create and execute comprehensive strategic communication plans tailored to both group-wide and division-specific needs. These plans aim to boost employee engagement, foster behaviors that align with our cultural journey, support business goals, and enhance awareness of Eaton. Collaboration with Corporate Communications, Sector, Region, Business, and Human Resources will ensure these efforts are aligned and consistent with our corporate and business objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strategic communications planning skills: Ability to: define communications objectives which are aligned and in support of business objectives; analyze and interpret information, business conditions, stakeholder positions and other variables in order to develop a framework for strategic communications; define strategic and measurable objectives; adjust the strategy in response to or anticipation of changing conditions; design and conduct both quantitative and qualitative research. Ability to design and deliver a strategic communication calendar to meet organizational goals.
Strategic Priority Alignment: Understanding strategic priorities and developing communication tools and platforms that enable the organization to meet goals, including Mobility Group Strategic Plan, regional leadership goals, functional (quality, safety, business unit), and cultural (vision, One Team culture, leadership attributes, sustainability).
Establish tools and processes for two-way communication with stakeholders: Owner and expert of multiple modes of internal communications including: internal e-mail announcements, presentations, newsletters, digital tools (Viva Engage, JOE, intranet, blogs, SharePoint, survey tools), roundtables. Establishes strategy to optimally reach targeted audience and measures the effectiveness of communication tools for continuous improvement.
External communications: Communications should include LinkedIn and other social media to support Eaton employee advocacy and positively contributes to the culture of the organization.
Event management: Manages content and planning for internal communications events, including: Annual Mobility Group Leadership Summits, Board of Directors visits, Extended Leadership Conferences, and Eaton's LiveWire events.
Internal communication calendar and communications: Develops, executes, and measures a regular cadence of communications activities, strategic and leadership messages, employee engagement and recognition, business and market updates, and recognition and community service, business wins and pursuits.
Market Awareness
Stay informed about market drivers and current trends impacting Eaton and the ESA business to ensure communications have context, are engaging, and relatable.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely across key functions, including human resources, corporate communications, technology, and regional communications teams.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in communications/journalism/business or relevant field.
• Minimum (7) years' experience in a Communications/Marketing role within a large global corporation or communication agency.
• Previous experience/expertise in creating strategic communication plans and branding tailored to meet group-wide and business goals.
• Previous experience developing communication tools and platforms that enable the organization to meet goals, including business plans, regional leadership goals, functional (quality, safety, business unit), and cultural goals.
• Significant expertise in multiple modes of internal communications including internal e-mail announcements, presentations, newsletters, digital tools ( Social Media, intranet, blogs, SharePoint, survey tools). Establishes strategy to optimally reach targeted audience and measures the effectiveness of communication tools for continuous improvement.
• History of successfully managing large Corporate internal events with a very detailed project management methodology. Ability to get results through others and alignment with senior leaders.
• Only candidates currently living within a 50-mile radius of Beachwood, OH ; Southfield, Michigan ; Raleigh, NC ; Pittsburgh, PA will be considered for this role .
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
• MS Degree or MBA.
• Expert knowledge of the Microsoft suite of software, including office, SharePoint, editing, Teams capability, etc.
• Previous experience in diverse international cultural landscapes, ensuring regional communication strategies resonate with international audiences.
• Understanding regional communication practices and cultural nuances for effective engagement and relationship-building globally.
• Understanding of communications as a two-way process and its use in influencing perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors.
• Broad exposure to and understanding of the integrated disciplines of the communication function (i.e. media relations, employee communications, branding and corporate identity, financial communications, marketing communications, community relations.
• Ability to define communications objectives which are aligned and in support of business objectives; analyze and interpret information, business conditions, stakeholder positions and other variables in order to develop a framework for strategic communications.
