ESPN Creative Studio is a dynamic unit within the Content division of ESPN. Our diverse team includes experts in Motion Graphics, Edit, Visual Storytelling, Production Enhancements and Innovations, Creative Operations, and Music. Roles within Creative Studio encompass Video Editors, Post Editors, Producer Editors, Sound Designers, Graphic Designers, Project Managers, Art Directors, and more. We are the go-to destination for conceptualizing, developing, and executing content across all domestic and international ESPN distribution platforms.

As a Creative Daily or Post Manager, you will lead edit team members and workflow, collaborating with staff, management peers, departmental colleagues, and clients to promote quality storytelling and programming. You will be instrumental in resolving technical, operational, and organizational challenges while fostering an innovative and creatively positive work environment. Responsibilities include attending meetings to provide and receive feedback on staff performance, staying current with emerging technologies, and identifying efficient workflows to position the team for future success. You will also provide administrative support, ensure adherence to all departmental and company policies, and mentor Supervising Editors on how to grow and support their direct reports. Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail are essential in managing the 24/7 nature of Creative Studio Edit.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, inspire, and support a team of creative professionals and creative leaders.
  • Hold and document regular meetings with direct reports, assign commitments, discuss progress, and evaluate performance. These meetings include quarterly and year-end reviews.
  • Manage edit team members and workflow, assessing capabilities and performance, making recommendations for shift and crew assignments, and developing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Deliver constructive feedback, handle challenging conversations, and address employee relations issues with sensitivity and respect.
  • Recommend corrective measures and, when necessary, handle disciplinary actions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends to ensure the team remains up-to-date.
  • Possess knowledge of multiple platforms of non-linear editing including Avid, Premiere, Grass Valley, and Edius, and an understanding of ancillary devices/software such as Adobe (AE, Audition, Photoshop), Cinema 4D, Resolve, and Pro Tools.
  • Collaborate with Programming, Marketing, and Production representatives in advance planning stages to achieve desired results.
  • Adjust team members and facility schedules as needed to meet changing programming demands while maintaining efficiency and flexibility.
  • Think quickly and adapt to rapidly changing situations.
  • Work with staff through late-night shifts, weekends, and holidays, performing a variety of special assignments.
  • Be proficient in vital computer programs for the Creative Edit Manager role (Scheduall, Concur, SAP, Workfront, Xytech).

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of non-linear edit, management, or related experience.
  • Ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility to adjust shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth understanding of the edit creative process, production roles, and the roles of partners, clients, and vendors.
  • Proficiency in business protocol, procurement techniques, and research and development in Edit area oversight.
  • Knowledge of PC or Mac operating systems.
  • Experience in supervising staff and managing edit operations.
  • Bi-lingual (written and spoken) in English and Spanish.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or related field
  • Vocational School or related experience
