Job Description:

Major Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes communication plans for environmental initiatives, including developing new web and print materials, publications, and other resources for Discover's sustainability outreach.
  • Manages and inputs environmental data into benchmarking platforms to track environmental progress against goals required for reporting.
  • Regularly tracks program metrics to demonstrate the impact and results of program implementation, including providing detail reports on potential drivers preventing progress against goals and working with business units on continuous improvement strategies.
  • Develops and executes program ideas, provide resources, and supports organization wide sustainability efforts aligning efforts with program goals and objectives.
  • Guides the development and delivery of pilot programs and projects that aim to reduce energy, water, waste, transportation operating costs. Drive evaluation of emerging opportunities and risks, share envrionmental best practices and innovative solutions from peer institutions, support evaluation of emission reduction strategies and partnerships.
  • Evaluates grant funding opportunities, rebate programs, and other financial incentives available to support program implementation where feasible.
  • Plans, develops, and implements a variety of public events, not limited to workshops, internal/external meetings, trainings, and environmental educational summits (i.e., Earth Day events at all sites, community green events, etc.)
  • Develops and administers several sustainability programs such as the Green Office Certification, Zero Waste, Bike to Campus, EPA ENERGY STAR program related initiatives, and others as deemed appropriate to the program. Drive evaluation of emerging opportunities and risks, share envrionmental best practices and innovative solutions from peer institutions, support evaluation of emission reduction strategies and partnerships.
  • Prepares internal and external reporting materials, applications, and recognition submissions for program distinctions, such as the Bike Friendly Campus, ENERY STAR Partner of the Year, Better Buildings Climate Challenge, RE100, Tree Campus, and other national programs as deemed appropriate to the program.
  • Serve as key liaison to the Employee Green Teams, offering support, guidance, budget and event approvals and ensuring alignment with company program goals. Contributes to a positive team environment by encouraging communication, collaboration, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Sciences, Architecture, OR Project Management
  • 6+ years of Business, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Sustainability or related field; commensurate work experience, with a minimum of four years of work experience directly related to creating and implementing sustainability programs or six years' experience in related field.
  • 6+ years of Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to: technical writing, computer skills, public speaking, and oral presentation, social media as well as the ability to work with diverse members of the organization. Works well as a team leader and member, and independently. Demonstrated strong leadership skills. Self-directed.

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $58,500.00 to $90,900.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
