Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits).

SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brands in the portfolio include Serengeti Lite, Guinness, Pilsner and SIB. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international world-class spirits brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Gordon's, Bailey's and Captain Morgan.

Purpose of Role

The Regional Agribusiness Manager promotes team growth, ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, and cultivates strong stakeholder relationships to address industry challenges and seize opportunities. By combining agricultural expertise with strategic business management, they play a critical role in maintaining the organization's competitiveness and success in a dynamic marketplace.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies.


  • Ensure security of local raw material supply (quality on time in full).


  • Source raw materials in the most cost-effective manner at the same time keeping a good eye on quality.


  • Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and ideate productivity opportunities.


  • Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers as well as devise negotiation strategies and secure profitable long-term deals.


  • Identify and mitigate local raw material sourcing risks inclusive of short, mid, and long-term horizons.


  • Discover and partner with trustworthy vendors and suppliers including diverse suppliers as well as devise strategies to develop/empower the suppliers.


  • Deploy digital farming platforms to ensure smallholder farmers have accurate records and traceability is guaranteed in our sourcing regions.


  • Implement regenerative agriculture projects in-country, working collaboratively in cross-functional teams in an agile and delivery-oriented manner.


  • Organize and execute farmer engagement workshops, GAP trainings and field visits to ensure our local smallholder farmers are well equipped to be profitable in their operations.


  • Monitoring and reporting on agribusiness operations to key stakeholders.


  • Map all the key stakeholders, develop and implement robust stakeholder engagement plans.


Experience / skills required

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in agricultural sciences with additional skills in agribusiness management.


  • A master's degree will be an added advantage.


Required Experience

  • 5+ years in a similar role.


  • Agility and good business acumen.


  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills.


  • Experience partnering with multiple stakeholders at various levels.


  • Working knowledge of agriculture value chains, agribusiness finance, and Climate Smart Agriculture in Tanzania.


  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and solve problems.


  • Demonstrated ability in farmers engagement, training, and capacity building.
