Provider Onboarding Coordinator

This position serves as a liaison between Delta Dental and large Dental Service Organizations (DSO) with multiple locations. The Provider Onboarding Coordinator is responsible for external contact with clients for contracting and credentialing needs for assigned providers associated with the DSO, and also oversees account maintenance and escalation resolutions as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as liaison for assigned large dental service organizations (DSO) to support provider contracting and credentialing requests, including but not limited to business name/tax ID changes, termination of dental contracts, sale of practices, license changes, provider directory assistance, and more.
  • Performs monthly provider roster reconciliation to meet compliance and delegated credentialing regulations; analyzes provider data and runs mass data uploads to support large electronic file transfers for provider contract entry updates and fee loads.
  • Coordinates weekly/monthly reoccurring meetings with DSO group to review open projects or cases to ensure service level expectations are being met; acts as the point of contact to share enterprise-approved communications with the DSO group related to providers, growth initiatives and new processes that impact provider contracting and credentialing.
  • Analyzes escalated issues to determine root cause, creates action plan for resolution and monitors resolution progress; engages other business areas if internal corrections are needed to drive closure to full resolution.
  • Leads or participates in cross-functional meetings to update stakeholders on pertinent issue resolutions, process changes and/or improvements, and system enhancements.
  • Creates educational materials, including Desk Level Procedures and Job Aids and utilizes this material to perform training for new hires and/or existing staff.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for internal staff and other teams on DSO accounts and service.

  • Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience w/High School
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
    • Strong technical skills including experience working with large data files and comparing information to drive results
    • Knowledge of Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes and dental nomenclature
    • Knowledge of Delta Dental products, policies, claims, eligibility, underwriting guidelines, benefit plans and payment methodology
    • Familiarity with adhering to various contractual and regulatory requirements
    • Knowledge of health care industry issues preferred
    • Strong organizational/time management skills with the ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
    • Knowledge of contract/policy processing concepts, policies, guidelines and systems
    • Effectively able to adapt to change and be comfortable handling risk and uncertainty
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality when exposed to sensitive information
    • Ability to teach others processes, policies and concepts
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present written information and findings
    • High level understanding of process flows and can identify roadblocks and devise solutions to improve processes
    • MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams); Intermediate Excel/Access skills
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to interact well with co-workers and outside contacts

    Base Pay Information

    The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
