In this role, the AI Advise Specialist Leader has a diverse portfolio of responsibilities that include helping our account focused teams identify, advocate for and deliver transformational change for our clients using a wide array of A.I. and data analytics capabilities and help drive and deliver on Deloitte's strategy within the emerging Artificial Intelligence landscape. They will lead internal AI engineering teams and work closely with leading industry partners, while also working directly with our federal clients to define strategy, drive technical development, and create the next generation of AI tools and services. This includes state-of-the-art techniques in generative AI, computer vision, natural language processing, time series analysis, signal processing, and automation of client workflows.

In addition, the AI Advise Specialist Leader will:

  • Drive high-impact business opportunities as an AI leader and accelerate the adoption of novel AI capabilities within GPS.
  • Act as an "AI Thought Leader", including the creation of whitepapers, presentations, executive briefings, reports, and other materials to support AI solutions and services.
  • Guide federal clients in AI strategy and development, including understanding agency needs, performing exploratory data analysis, building and validating models, and deploying models into both on-prem and cloud environments, operating with high autonomy in a highly collaborative teaming environment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to GPS clients and within the global AI partner ecosystem.
  • Develop prototypes in response to capability development, business development, and government requests (RFPs/RFIs) to lead the charge in establishing Deloitte as a thought leader in the AI Space.
  • Maintain and uphold emerging technology fluency and best practices on new innovations, methodologies, technologies, industry trends, and open-source packages.
  • Work cross-functionally with other scientists & data engineers, federal account managers and GPS business leadership to lead technical aspects of project delivery, engage with clients, and help to navigate policy, societal and political dimensions of the project upon which they are deployed.

The team

SFL Scientific, a Deloitte Business, is a U.S. based, data science consulting firm specializing in machine learning and AI technologies. We are looking for a senior data scientist to continue our growth and to design and build end-to-end AI solutions within Government & Public Services (GPS). The candidate will be responsible for the development of AI systems through leveraging our clients' large and complex data streams.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Masters degree or higher in a STEM field, high preference to degrees in Artificial Intelligence and related engineering technologies (PhD preferred).
  • 15+ years of professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience providing technology solutions to the government marketplace.
  • 8+ years of experience in in core programming languages and data science packages (Python, Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Jupyter, etc.), and in AI/ML algorithm development and data analysis (NLP, time-series analysis, computer vision).
  • 8+ years of experience managing high-value portfolios, in addition to being able to identify and propose solutions to bring in additional portfolios of work.
  • 5+ years of experience coaching or mentoring junior staff.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Willingness to travel - typically up to 25%.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading strategic conversations with executive level clients (C-suite equivalent) to create a vision for AI, data, technology platforms to meet evolving mission needs.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment.
  • Active Government Security Clearance.
