Applies in-depth expertise to provide expert patient care and clinical leadership by assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering treatments and medications, collaborating with healthcare teams, and advocating for patients. Leverages advanced clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and experience to deliver quality, evidence-based care and contribute to the overall improvement of patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.

What you will do
  • Administers oral medications, injections (intramuscular or subcutaneous), intravenous medications and topical medications.
  • Analyzes complex patient conditions and documents pain levels and response towards treatments.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of vital sign monitoring to record abnormalities or changes in blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature.
  • Conducts various routine assessments (mental health, pain, nutritional, physical) to determine the patient condition and ensure the well-being of patients.
  • Controls patient access to healthcare and provides community resources to patients regarding medication administration, self-care techniques, and disease management when resources are limited.
  • Coordinates wound care to determine the most appropriate interventions and monitoring for healing.
  • Designs medication assessments to assess potential side effects and/or interactions.
  • Develops mental health assessments to screen for depression and observe the mood, behavior, and cognitive abilities of the patient.
  • Documents illnesses, medications, allergies, surgeries, and family history within the electronic medical record system.
For this role you will need Minimum Requirements
  • Less than 5 years work experience
  • National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) required.
  • Basic awareness of problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Basic awareness of digital literacy skills.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with customers and community.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
  • Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate option.
  • Ability to function in clinical setting with diverse cultural dynamics of clinical staff and patients.

    This position will be a neighborhood support of Providers in this and surrounding clinics.

    The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)/ Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in expanded scope clinics is an integral part of the clinic team inside of Minute Clinic. Under the supervision of a Minute Clinic Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, the LPN/LVN will advance the evidence-based practice in all patient encounters as they perform the major job duties and tasks within the scope of their training. The role is responsible for assisting patients and performing or assisting with all clinical services available at the clinics. The LVN/LPN will perform patient registration and intake tasks, will assist with wait room management and other tasks to enhance the patient experience. Clinical responsibilities to include phlebotomy and specimen collection services, vaccine injection, patient assessment activities during intake such as vital signs, and performing diagnostic tests such as EKG and Retinopathy.

    Required Qualifications

    Experience:

    • Minimum of one year related work experience in a healthcare setting required.

    • Experience documenting within an Electronic Medical Record required.

    • Ability to take vital signs, perform phlebotomy blood draws and perform Point of Care Testing required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to work independently

    • Demonstrates initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability and flexibility

    • Clinical skills: documentation of care, medication administration, infection control precautions, assessing

    patient educational needs, physical assessment, obtaining vital signs, care coordination.

    • Ability to take and pass a FIT test with the respirators that Minute Clinic provides, and to wear the provided

    respirator mask when protocol requires.

    Licensure/Certifications:

    • The LPN/LVN must have a full, active and unrestricted license as a Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse in a

    State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.

    • Phlebotomy experience preferred. If not experienced, must successfully complete internal Phlebotomy

    training.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Provide holistic, evidenced-based care inclusive of accurate assessment, diagnosis,

    treatment, management of health problems, health counseling, and disposition

    planning for our patients. This includes education and treatment for pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted infection (STI) Prevention and safer sex practices.

    2. Offers and administers immunizations and injections (to include but not limited to COVID19, influenza, TB, Depo, etc.) and provides evidence-based patient/parent vaccine counseling and education.

    3. Ability to perform Basic Life Support (BLS) assistance, including but not limited to performing CPR and operating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

    Bachelor Degree

    Other certificates or Licenses (Phlebotomy Certificate)

    Education

    Graduate of a school of Practical or Vocational Nursing, approved by the State Agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing (Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)) at the time the program was completed by the applicant
  • Pay Range

    The typical pay range for this role is:

    $22.40 - $48.66

    This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
