DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
This on-site role is crucial for providing Quality Engineering support for the 95L and test during the 2nd shift, with occasional weekend overtime required. The position demands a deep understanding of engine assembly processes and involves interfacing with various functions to resolve quality issues and lead problem resolution teams. The Quality Engineer will ensure that products and processes comply with quality standards, including ISO-9001, customer-specific requirements, and PPAP. Additionally, the role includes leading and supporting change management activities and quality practices. The Quality Engineer will play a key role in identifying problems, conducting root cause analysis, and documenting corrective actions to maintain and enhance product quality.

In this role you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Manage systems related to plant customer issues, including corrective requests.
- Lead containment activities to address quality issues.
- Ensure products and processes meet initial and long-term quality standards (e.g., IATF, customer-specific requirements, APQP, PPAP documentation submittal).
- Support change management activities for current products and Value Package Introduction (VPI) by verifying products and processes to ensure key measures are met and analyzing data for decision support.
- Support and/or lead less complex quality audits.
- Serve as a quality technical resource to other functional areas.
- Support the prioritization of continuous improvement with cross-functional key business partners by utilizing industry-proven methodologies (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, 7-step problem solving, Intelligent Quality Tools and Methods (IQTM)).
- Demonstrate a basic understanding and application of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) core tools.
- May lead less complex and/or support Safe Launch initiatives through VPI.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Creates forums for professional dialogue, influencing outcomes to ensure balanced decisions that prioritize quality. - Advanced Product Quality Planning: Leads technical quality planning efforts to ensure customer satisfaction through structured and measurable processes. Utilizes industry standards to guide quality planning activities, ensuring products meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements. Monitors and adjusts plans to maintain high-quality outcomes.
- Measurement Science: Analyzes measurement processes throughout the traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty. Applies relevant measurement science (e.g., Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Radiation, Physical) to ensure accurate and reliable data. Implements improvements to enhance measurement precision and reliability.
- Problem Solving: Solves problems using systematic analysis processes and industry-standard methodologies. Mentors others on effective problem-solving techniques, ensuring traceability and customer protection. Identifies assignable causes, implements robust data-based solutions, and addresses systemic root causes to prevent recurrence.
- Production Part Approval Process: Coordinates the submission of APQP activities and information related to new or changed products and processes. Dispositions product readiness for production in accordance with PPAP and APQP provisions of AIAG manuals and Cummins procedures. Ensures compliance with supplier and customer requirements.
- Project Management: Establishes and maintains the balance of scope, schedule, and resources for projects. Ensures project results and impacts are fully realized. Manages project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring successful completion and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Quality Process Management: Applies quality tools and methods (e.g., APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Capability studies, Process Audit, inspection, test) to ensure the quality of products, processes, and services. Continuously monitors and improves quality processes to meet standards and exceed customer expectations.
- Quality Systems Management: Utilizes quality tools and processes to ensure the quality management system is understood, implemented, and maintained. Demonstrates the system's ability to consistently and effectively provide products and services that meet requirements. Drives continuous improvement in quality management practices.
- Statistical Foundations: Applies statistical tools and techniques to influence decision-making. Leverages understanding of data collection methods, key statistics, and graphical and analytical methods to describe process performance, gain insights, and drive improvement actions. Uses statistical analysis to support quality initiatives and optimize processes.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject or experience equivalent is preferred.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
- Minimal to intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
QUALIFICATIONS
