DESCRIPTION
The Product Design Technician - Level III utilizes advanced skills, knowledge, and experience to create and maintain specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products. This role ensures adherence to company, industry, national, and international standards, while positively impacting the organization's performance through high-quality design and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Create complex 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools.
- Perform quality checks on models and drawings prior to release.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to product specifications.
- Utilize PLM tools such as Windchill for configuration control and data security.
- Ensure compliance with Cummins, industry, and international design standards.
- Process internal engineering work requests and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Lead and participate in Drawing Quality Reviews and concept modeling.
- Create assemblies to ensure fit and function with mating parts.
- Mentor and train junior designers and technicians.
- Support the maintenance and evolution of design standards and best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree or regionally applicable certification in a relevant STEM field preferred.
- Licensing may be required for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Experience
- Sheetmetal Design: Proficient in sheetmetal design with minimal supervision.
- CAD Proficiency: Advanced skills in CAD modeling and drawing creation.
- PLM Experience: Hands-on experience with Windchill or similar PLM systems.
- TLA Understanding: Working knowledge of TLA (Top-Level Assembly) structures.
- Work Experience: Significant relevant work experience or specialized skills gained through education, training, or on-the-job learning.
