DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our team specializing in Finance for our Finance& Admin Departement in Oevel, Belgium
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Ensure Financial Accuracy: You will contribute to the integrity of financial reporting by preparing accurate general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Drive Insightful Analysis: By identifying and investigating unusual variances in financial data, you will provide valuable insights that support better decision-making across the department.
- Strengthen Internal Controls: Your review and development of internal controls will enhance compliance, reduce risk, and support a strong financial governance framework.
- Support Audit Readiness: By responding to auditor inquiries and ensuring timely, well-documented reporting, you will help the organization maintain audit readiness and regulatory compliance, including Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Improve Operational Efficiency: Your recommendations to refine current procedures will streamline accounting operations and promote the adoption of best practices.
- Safeguard Confidential Information: Through your commitment to confidentiality, you will uphold the organization's trust and protect sensitive financial data.
- Facilitate Timely Reporting: You will play a key role in ensuring that monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Contribute to Strategic Goals: Your detailed financial work and insights will support the department's strategic objectives by informing planning, budgeting, and performance evaluation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Comprehensive Accounting Knowledge & Technical Skills: A strong command of A-Z bookkeeping, Belgian statutory requirements (VAT, Intrastat, annual accounts, corporate tax), and US GAAP principles is essential to ensure compliance and accurate reporting. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel will support efficient data handling and analysis.
- Analytical & Financial Insight: You need the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, variances, and risks, and translate those insights into actionable recommendations that support strategic decisions and improve financial performance.
- Strong Organizational & Communication Skills: Success depends on your ability to prioritize tasks, manage AP/AR balances, meet tight deadlines (monthly, quarterly, annual close), and clearly communicate financial information to stakeholders with varying levels of financial expertise.
- Proactive Mindset & Control Orientation: You should be systems- and process-minded, able to work independently and in teams, take initiative, and drive improvements in internal controls and financial procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Experience:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification is preferred.
- Intermediate level of relevant professional work experience in the field of study required.
