Your Opportunity

CSL (a top 5 ASX company) is a global biotechnology company with a dynamic portfolio of lifesaving medicines, including those that treat haemophilia, immune deficiencies, iron deficiencies, kidney diseases and vaccines to prevent influenza.

A newly created position is available as a Senior Counsel, APAC Employment Law. Working across the Asia Pacific region with a focus on Australia, China and Japan, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive advice on all aspects of employment law.

You will support and collaborate with partners across Human Resources (HR) (Business Partners, Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Talent, Compensation, Total Rewards and Global Mobility), Enterprise Risk, Ethics & Compliance, and business professionals across the regional CSL business units.

Reporting to the Global Head, Labour & Employment Law you will

  • Be a subject matter expert and provide direct legal guidance on all Australian employment law matters including discrimination allegations, counselling, investigations, grievances and terminations
  • Provide succinct and direct employment law advice that is strategic, business-focussed, risk-conscious, compliant and actionable
  • Work with Industrial Relations to actively participate in Enterprise Agreement strategy, support negotiations and claims analysis and impact to the organisation
  • Manage and assess employment law items across APAC, utilising local internal legal support where available
  • Oversee outside counsel, and represent company where appropriate, in litigation and agency matters

Your skills and experience
  • LLB or JD from an Australian university
  • Admission to practise in Victoria, Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in Australian Employment law matters, in-house experience desirable
  • Experience in conducting or overseeing complex employment related items and working effectively within a matrixed organisational structure
