Position Overview

Territory Sales Manager - South is responsible for driving commercial growth and customer satisfaction across the South Region, with a strong focus on prospecting new business south of Dover, including Sussex and Kent counties. This role will lead sales efforts for precast concrete products, block, brick, and redi-mix plants, while also supporting specialized sand products. The ideal candidate will balance strategic account management with aggressive new business development, leveraging technical knowledge and cross-functional collaboration to meet sales targets and support the output of a newly built plant.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for own personal safety at all times, as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job. Be familiar with and follow Oldcastle's 14 Fundamentals for Fatality Elimination.
  • Assist in the preparation of the company's marketing plan and is responsible for implementing and supervising its development in the marketplace. This includes both a short-term business plan and a long-term strategic business plan for the various areas of responsibility.
  • Define our customers' needs and create specific measures within each department that relates directly to a satisfied customer.
  • Solicit/secure opportunities to price jobs and gather orders from existing customers by means of personal visits, telephone, and/or written communications.
  • Identify new markets and targets specific accounts and prospects to meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Submit daily activity / call reports concerning customer related events.
  • Perform market and customer segmentation activities so that each department is aware of our core customers and how to meet and exceed specific customer expectations
  • Participate in regular department-wide meetings to discuss monthly forecasting, opportunities, issues and solution solving. Acts as a coordinator between the sales efforts and their relationship with technical services, manufacturing & transportation departments working toward the common goal of servicing the customer's needs.
  • Visit all operating plants (all lines of business) and personnel on a monthly basis. Work to ensure that everyone in the field understands our direction and strategy. Help to create "buy-in" from all stakeholders so that all work towards the same common goal.
  • Have regular conversations with the Director of Sales updating sales activities (significant jobs, etc.) and any other Customer Support Issues.
  • Know and understand the financial data for all lines of business (transportation, sand, gravel, and aggregates) within Pennsy Supply - South Region. Produce information on a regular basis as requested by your management and other members of the executive management team.
  • Possess a working knowledge of all software (Salesforce, Quote to Cash, Viewpoint, Command, etc.) used by the various areas of responsibility and be able to produce measurable data using the reports generated by the software systems.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University; or 2 or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 or more years of related experience in customer service and sales is preferred.
  • 2 or more years of managing people in a team environment is recommended
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to do basic math
  • Able to work independently with attention to detail
  • Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to respond to stressful situations and customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to write reports, document findings, and procedures, and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public
Language Skills

Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written form to employees, management, executives and customers. Must have excellent phone etiquette, speaking voice and professional appearance
Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability

Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written or oral form. Able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to interpret written and oral instructions, and to read, analyze, and interpret, operating & maintenance instructions or regulations.
Stress

Ability to handle stressful situations when dealing with customer demand, supervision of staff and scheduling.
General Requirements
  • Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations
  • Hours are extended throughout the year to include nights and weekends when necessary
  • Travel may be required
