CRH Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) is a strategic division within the company that encompasses a diverse portfolio of operations and business in the Eastern region. Comprising markets Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Germany and Switzerland, the CEE region plays a crucial role in CRH's global presence and growth strategy.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and data-driven Business Controller to join our Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) division at CRH and ideally be based in Warsaw, Poland. This is a pivotal role supporting strategic financial decision-making across multiple countries and business units within our regional portfolio.

You'll be at the heart of our regional Finance function, playing a key role in consolidating performance insights, shaping financial narratives, and driving value through analysis and commercial understanding.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the CEE Finance Director, you will be part of the small divisional team and play a key role in shaping business performance through data analysis, financial consolidation, and insight-driven reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing consolidated reports, commentaries, and financial presentations for senior stakeholders across the CEE region.
  • Collaborating with Cluster FDs, SVPs, and OpCo Finance Teams on budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and impairment testing.
  • Interpreting complex financial data to create clear and compelling narratives that support business decisions.
  • Providing critical feedback during business case preparation and following up on implemented projects.
  • Supporting performance improvement efforts through KPI tracking, performance bridging, and reporting cycles.
  • Contributing to improvements in internal control processes across the region.
  • Supporting country-level saving initiatives and ensuring consistent reporting across workstreams.
  • Coordinating data collation for quarterly briefings, annual reports, and other group-wide processes.
  • Operating in English as the primary working language.

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you should be a commercially aware and analytically strong finance professional who brings cross-country experience and thrives in a matrixed corporate environment.

You will ideally have:

  • A background in business control or financial planning and analysis, preferably within a multinational organisation.
  • Strong data orientation and the ability to "tell the story" behind numbers with clarity and impact.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • A recognised professional finance qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) or be working towards one.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint); experience with HFM and ExQL is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong presentation and report-writing skills.
  • Flexibility to travel within the CEE region as required.
  • Knowledge of an East European language is a plus.
