About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer with 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails, along with working knowledge of Java, to join our dynamic engineering team. As a core member of the backend team, you will be responsible for building robust and scalable web applications, collaborating closely with product and design teams, and delivering high-quality software that meets business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails, and Java.
• Work with MySQL databases to design and optimize schemas and queries.
• Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code across multiple technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, bugs, and issues across the stack.
• Write and maintain unit tests to ensure proper test coverage and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and help drive technical decisions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in a production environment with Ruby on Rails.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with Java in backend development.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and experience with database optimization.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns.
• Experience writing unit tests in Ruby and/or Java.
• Proven ability to write efficient, performant, and maintainable code.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in polyglot environments (multiple backend technologies).
• Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.).
• Exposure to NoSQL databases like DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and containerization tools like Docker.
