Short Description

The Security Dispatch/Surveillance Specialist is a specialized/technical position that performs their duties under the direction of the Security Lieutenant and/or Security Captain.  This individual will be responsible for:

  • Receiving and prioritizing incoming requests for assistance via telephone, fax, computer terminals and system panels.
  • Dispatching Security Officers via multi-channel two-way radio base station in response to requests for assistance and other operational responsibilities during emergent and non-emergent scenarios.
  • Monitoring complex CCTV camera system (900+ cameras) throughout Cooper University Hospital’s multiple campuses.
  • Assisting Security Administration with requests for video duplications by reviewing and downloading video files and pictures related to incidents that are captured by the CCTV camera system according to established hospital policy.
  • Supporting numerous customers/departments within/outside Cooper University Hospital by obtaining accurate information, memorializes data into the appropriate database or manual log and by reviewing and downloading video files and pictures related to incidents that are captured by the CCTV camera system.  
  • Maintaining the Security Operation Command Center work area in a neat, clean, organized manner.
  • Ensuring that all equipment in the Security Operation Command Center is in operating condition.
  • Contacts the appropriate vendor to report malfunctions and schedule service calls.
  • Working closely with shift supervisors to address operational deployment and response of personnel. 
  • Assisting in the training of Security Officers to familiarize them with the functions of the Security Operation Command Center.

Experience Required

Minimum two (2) years related security experience. (Required)

Must be computer literate. (Required)

Excellent written, oral and organizational skills. (Required)

Knowledge of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Access Control systems. (Required)

Radio communications experience. (Preferred)


Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.


License/Certification Requirements

Valid Driver’s License. (Preferred)

SORA or IAHSS Basic Healthcare Security and Safety Officers Cert. (Preferred)
