Job Summary
The Operation Engineer, Bridges and Structures - Eastern Region is responsible for working with Managers of Engineering in Eastern Canada. The incumbent is accountable for leading construction projects and maintenance programs for all Bridges and Structures (B&S), including culverts in conjunction with local stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
Field Technical Support
• Provide technical support to field
• Visit sites to carry out inspections and validate conditions found on inspection reports to properly handle priorities
Operations
• Lead special projects including concrete repairs, as well as all contracted work
• Plan, coordinate, and execute work while controlling all project costs including tender document preparation
• Review, sign, and seal engineering drawings
• Handle all culverts within territory including updating master list
• Review inspection reports
• Assist in the review of bridge inspection reports including required work in the 5-year plan
• Maintain all drawings, bridge files, and photos
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role is partially performed outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions. The incumbent must be available to work shifts and weekends when necessary. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences. The role requires occasional travel (25%) to remote locations.
Requirements
Experience
Project Management in Bridges and Structures
• Between 2 to 5 years of experience in construction or municipal project management
o Experience installing culverts, steel bridge repair work, and concrete repair work
o Experience with railway work procedures and related work environments
o Experience with timber structures and related repair work
o Experience with geotechnical engineering or foundation design
o Experience with environmental engineering or environmental protective legislation
*Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer Designation (P.Eng) or 1 year from getting the accreditation
• Valid Driver's Licence
