Job Summary

The Expert, Change Management is responsible for planning, developing, and executing change management activities for business transformation and technology projects. The role works closely with Business Units management and Information and Technology (I&T) stakeholders to ensure that people, process, and technology changes are prioritized and change management best practices are applied to the adoption of the new ways of working.

Main Responsibilities

Change Management and Stakeholder Engagement

• Design and deliver change management strategies and plans to support end users adopting new ways of working
• Engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization (e.g., Executive, I&T, end users within management and unionized groups)
• Identify stakeholders and conduct impact assessments
• Contribute to the continuous refinement of the adoption strategy and plan, in line with identified adoption risks
• Create risk mitigation tactics to minimize resistance
• Design and lead change network groups (e.g., Change Champions and Super Users) to support end users adopt new ways of working in their business units
• Liaise with other key groups at CN and externally (business units and different functions.)
• Identify and assess people risks, end user readiness and user adoption
• Propose change management mitigation tactics to support end users based on readiness and adoption results

Training and Performance Support

• Collaborate with the OCM team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to conduct training needs assessment, train the trainer, and end user training plan
• Support the development of relevant training material for impacted stakeholders (e.g., job aids, presentations, system simulations)
• Ensure that all communication and engagement activities align with the training strategy and plan

Communications

• Develop and execute strategic communication plans to support end users
• Draft communications and oversee review cycles and approvals
• Distribute communications to internal audiences

Requirements

Experience

Change Management
• Minimum 10 years of experience working with upper management and leading change management activities within a complex project or program
o Experience in delivering large-scale technology implementations and working with Operations in a unionized environment
o Experience working effectively across divisional lines in a complex multi-site organization
Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

• Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Behaviour, Management, Human Resources (HR) or similar field
• Change Management Certification (PROSCI)
Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

• Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)
• Solid understanding of the logistics and transportation industry
