Position Summary

A Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity is immediately available for the highly motivated individual in the laboratory of Dr. ZJ Sun at Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, one of a prestigious group of NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

The Sun laboratory examines stem cells and stem cell niches in prostate development and tumorigenesis using "cutting-edge" and unbiased analytic tools and unique and innovative genetically engineered mouse models. The Postdoctoral Fellow will join a highly productive lab to directly work on the novel and ongoing projects to uncover cell signaling pathways, and related gene-expression and genomic and epigenetic alterations that regulate the prostatic epithelial-stromal interactions in development and tumor development and progression.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • The successful applicant will investigate steroid hormone action, transcriptional control, and cell signaling in development and tumorigenesis.
  • The Fellow will develop and use novel and advanced biological approaches, and genetically engineered mouse models to uncover gene-expression and genomic and epigenetic alterations in cancer initiating cells in order to understand mechanisms underlying tumor initiation, progression, and metastasis.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field.
  • A proven track record of creativity and productivity.
  • Highly self-motivated, strong desire to learn, and have excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience with mouse models of human diseases, cancer biology, molecular biology, or genetics is highly desired, but not required.

Additional Information:
  • To protect the health of patients and staff and to comply with new State of California mandates, City of Hope staff are required to show proof of full vaccination by September 30, 2021. Compliance is a condition of employment.
