BUSINESS CONTINUITY PROGRAM RISK MANAGER

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Business Continuity Risk Management (BCRM) is the second line of defense team responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of the management of Business Continuity risk arising from City National Bank's business processes, people, systems or external events. This position provides business continuity risk leadership including providing business continuity expertise, advice, and counsel to executives and senior management and in enhancing their ability to anticipate and manage business continuity risks effectively.

The Business Continuity Program Risk Manager is responsible for driving business continuity risk assessments, metrics/key risk indicators, business continuity risk analysis, and reporting status of risk remediation activities. This position will also be required to provide an independent view to ensure the Business Continuity Risk Profile is fairly presented in ongoing reporting including escalating to executive management and board as required. This role will also apply business continuity and FFIEC best practices to ensure the Bank is in compliance.

Risk Management Division

What you will do

  • Responsible for executing the enterprise-wide business continuity risk program consistent with City National Bank's and RBC's Risk Framework.
  • Provide independent review and challenge of new products, new processes, risk assessments, crisis events, self-identified issues.
  • Provide specialized guidance, oversight on current and emerging business continuity risk issues, monitoring and measuring business continuity risk performance, policy adherence, and reviewing and challenging of strategy (initiative, products), control design, implementation, testing, and remediation across CNB.
  • As a business continuity subject matter expert, provide advice, counsel, and training to business and corporate units on business continuity risk program management topics, including policies, standards, procedures and reporting metrics.
  • Execute annual business continuity risk assessment, which creates an independent view of business continuity risk at CNB, and create thematic reviews of business continuity issues important to CNB.
  • Prepare status reports, key metrics, thematic reviews, business continuity updates on a regular cadence and other reports, as requested. Analyze business continuity information such as from business impact assessments, business continuity plan and business continuity exercise trends to identify programmatic gaps and/or weaknesses.
  • Analyze large volumes of data to uncover business continuity trends, emerging risks across business units, channels, and products and perform root cause and impact analysis.
  • Support the development of dashboards for reporting, monitoring, and translating business continuity risk metrics to senior management.
  • Liaise with key stakeholder groups including Risk Management, First Line Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management Group, and Third Party Risk Management.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding CNB, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Business Continuity, Operational Risk or Resilience practitioner with extensive first Line or second Line experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Certification within the business continuity industry preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; Must be articulate and persuasive.
  • Ability to drive change to business practices by working effectively. Self-starting with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, listen and work well with others.
  • Client-focused and open to different ideas/viewpoints.
  • Capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with follow-up and problem solving capability.
  • Ability to analyze a process and recommend ways to improve quality, controls, and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness across all components within the Business Continuity field.

Compensation

Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
