Robinson is seeking a Manager Cargo Risk Management to oversee the organization's North America risk management department, focusing on cargo claims, cargo liability, identifying and addressing organizational risk, insurance and legal liability. As the Manager, you will manage risk through exposure identification, control, insurance, and alternative financing, including offshore captive utilization. Your ability to work strategically with the corporate finance team and business units on cargo risk management initiatives, process improvements, and educating the organization on insurance and risk will be critical to your success. In addition, you will develop cargo risk strategies and solutions aligned with the organization's risk tolerance and evolving business needs. Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate potential risks associated with assigned business units, products or product lines, or programs
- Seek to mitigate liability associated with risks by proposing and implementing the appropriate risk management solution
- Prepare and deliver reports to management teams detailing risks facing the organization, quantifying historical and projected future losses, and describing risk reduction strategies
- Implement best practices and tools to manage and optimize insurance program offerings
- Maintain positive and effective working relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, third party claims administrators (TPAs) and other vendors
- Work closely with other finance teams to provide guidance, leverage resources, and share expertise
- Develop and analyze reporting and metrics to monitor performance and drive efficiencies
- Suggest, review, and implement improvements in processes and technology tools to increase effectiveness of operations; works with cross-functional teams to drive business process improvement
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders at multiple levels within the organization
- Instill a collaborative working environment with business units to stay abreast of changes in operations that may impact risk exposures
- Inform management of operational practices that impact risk and compliance; ensure policies and processes are up to date
- Maintain the department's budget, ensuring business goals are met with greatest efficiency
- Arrange and oversee completion of all work within their team
- Cultivate a high performing team by building skills through coaching, mentoring and ongoing training and development
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 5 years of applicable experience in risk, insurance, claims or related experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation or logistics
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading and managing teams
- Up to 10% travel (domestically)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Lean Concepts and/or Six Sigma
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs, particularly Excel
- Effective and flexible communication skills
- Strong ability to make timely and sound decisions with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
- Collaborative, adaptive leadership approach
- Advanced proficiency in financial and operational performance metrics with the ability to understand and communicate them
- Strong strategic orientation and planning, business acumen, problem solving/critical thinking skills, and ability to evaluate broad impacts of work
- Demonstrated experience influencing, effectively resolving conflict
- Proven track record for delivering process/continuous improvement and change management results
- Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization, including executives
