Technology Purchasing Lead

Overview

The Technology Purchasing Lead position will support the operations of the IT Sourcing, Procurement and Vendor Management Office (SPVM) reporting to the SPVM Sr. Principal Team Leader. They will support a comprehensive sourcing strategy and framework, including leading business leads and stakeholders through processes, and leveraging tools and reporting to actively manage third-party sourcing across the IT organization. They will collaborate with IT technology owners and Corporate Procurement to forecast the technology needs, gather solution requirements, conduct industry research for benchmarking pricing and solution capabilities, support the negotiation of vendor contracts and manage the procurement activities for technology software and services.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the IT Software and Services categories, understanding the current vendor ecosystem and opportunities in the industry.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Procurement on sourcing process and sourcing strategies that align with IT strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with business partners to drive sourcing engagement, understand stakeholder requirements, future demand and strategic needs.
  • Assist business partners with the contract negotiations of assigned sourcing events.
  • Execute procurement activities in your area of responsibility including supporting the purchase order, invoicing and procure to pay processes prescribed by Financial Services and Corporate Procurement.
  • Partner with the asset management lifecycle team to ensure compliance on all software licenses.
  • Work with business partners and vendor management team to develop and execute on supplier relationship management plans and supplier performance measurements.
  • Manage and mature assigned IT Services sub-categories in partnership with Corporate Procurement and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking to build a deep understanding of the IT solutions markets and leverage analytics and data insights to assist with decision-making. May include regularly meeting with vendors and attending relevant industry events.
  • Present all pertinent supplier and/or industry trends to business partners, stakeholders and leadership, while proposing updates and improvements to existing strategies.
  • Drive the realization of top savings initiatives and continuously improve the category return on investment.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in IT Sourcing, Procurement, Vendor Management, Internal Audit, Corporate Procurement or Contracts management.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing indirect procurement processes and policies across multiple technology categories (ie: IT services, outsourcing, managed services, services automation, software, hardware, cloud, and telecom).
  • Experience in sourcing, contracting and negotiation assigned sourcing events.
  • Strong understanding of Category Management and implementing category plans.
  • Ability to gain trust, build relationships and support of external partners.
  • Applies a strategic mindset to work.
  • Comfortable with senior stakeholders and providing advice and guidance.
  • Customer-centric and business results-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable with managing ambiguity in a fast-changing environment.
  • Ownership mentality with a deep sense of accountability over results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of an organization (verbal and written).
  • High degree of comfort with business and technology language.
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of legal, compliance, and privacy/security, with the ability to provide recommendations.
