Overview

The Sr. Lead Restaurant Safety Advisor is responsible for providing technical leadership and consultation in the field of Restaurant specific Environmental, Health and Safety. This role would serve as an advisor on Restaurant workplace safety efforts and initiatives. This role would be responsible for maintaining updated knowledge of People Safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), support compliance efforts, perform regular trend analyses to identify areas for safety intervention & oversight, and perform safety assessments and education where needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assigned to Regions(s) and building relationships with Operators and field support Staff, including but not limited to, Operations Leads, Facilities Management field consultants to communicate safety concerns or emerging trends.
  • Perform regular loss analyses to identify root cause of specific safety trends in Restaurant across assigned Regions.
  • Consult with key stakeholders, such as Operations Leads and Facilities Management on specific loss trends and safety hazards to help mitigate incidents and/or reoccurrence of incidents.
  • Work with key stakeholders on strategic People Safety solutions on new processes.
  • Support Operator-Owned restaurant-facing activities such as:
    • Consult to Safety & Claims Dashboard.
    • Perform mid-year claim analyses to review People Safety program progress and/or identify emerging trends by cause, state, Restaurant location that may cause subsequent shifts or adjustments to Risk Management strategies.
    • Perform large loss review on any significant loss (>$75,000 or over) to identify root cause and share best practices to help mitigate reoccurrence.
    • Prepare presentations and participate in meetings, including Operator Market Meetings, internal department meetings as necessary to discuss emerging restaurant People Safety trends and opportunities.
    • Perform Restaurant safety visits with or on behalf of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team.
  • Understands OSHA regulatory requirements as applicable to the restaurant environment.
  • Aid in the response of safety regulatory inquiries as deemed appropriate.
  • Assist in developing/updating People Safety best practices and protocols as needed.
  • Assist with the development & implementation of new People Safety programs.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance/guidance on People Safety related matters.
  • Work with other members of the risk management team on other risk initiatives as requested.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to perform safety evaluations and consult to findings
  • Advanced knowledge on People Safety regulations
  • Experience in on-site incident response and assessments for correction and continuous improvement
  • Ability to develop and implement environmental, health and safety protocols and policies
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills that produces influence for change
  • Self-starter, nimble and responsive to issues or problems
  • Applies critical thinking and problem solving
  • Quick and versatile learner
  • Ability to digest, process, and solve complex problems in a collaborative environment
  • Possess partnership mindset with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Restaurant safety and/or restaurant operations experience
  • Experience in working with regulators/governmental agencies, such as OSHA
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Environmental Specialist
  • 7-10 years' experience
